Head or Armada

Especially when your a female in the sport and barely get enough from comps to ski for a living.

I hate aliases... If it was about the money then I understand the decision. I really wish she had stayed with Armada though.

It's because Head makes a full and real women's ski line (skis and boots). Armada paints a men's ski pink and maybe takes out a layer of glass and calls it a women's ski.

I would assume Head also paid here more.

there is no difference between a womans ski and a mens ski other than that a womens ski is geared towards worse skiers. every pro girl skier would use a "guys" ski anyway cuz they are geared towards more aggressive riders

I'm glad she switched! Riders should go with their feelings and not worry so much about what is cool and what isn't. Plus now she gets boots/bindings. I really like the idea of there being more support for women in the sport too, and if she felt that Head was going to be able to foster that, then she is leading the way for the future of women freeskiers.

I mean how are we supposed to have freeskiing babies without women freeskiers? ;)

You guys have it all wrong, when Armada and Grete were together it was just an unhealthy sponsorship. Armada never told Grete she was beautiful or stylish, or never cooked her dinner, never brought her on romantic team trips. Anything like that, they just didn't treat her right. So Grete dumped that zero and got herself some head. Of course Line & 4frnt brought Armada out to the bar to get drunk and forget his pains and maybe get a rebound hook up with roxy or something, unfortunately Head was there and Armada tried to start a bar fight with him.

Well, now she can join her fellow Scandinavian, Jon!

Head now have one of the top female freeskiers as well as one of the top males. Way to go. It's quite right, really, since Head was once once the leading manufacturer of skis in the US after it's creation in 1950 by Howard Head.

I bet Head have $$$. They've got some of the biggest names in tennis (Agassi, Mauresmo, Gasquet), and I bet they're going for some of the big time skiers too.

Armada didn't have a full out womens line, and didn't put enough effort into their ladies(wasn't Grete the only one?).

Head will do that, and listen more to her ideas.

But I like the Armada vibe more...

yeah because of the height factor, and "wide hips". if a guy was the same height and weight they would ski the same especially in free skiing. this might not be the case if you are a fat nub skiier that staid on the bunny slopes. I know plenty of chick skiiers that came into the shop last year and wanted mens skis because the womens were too soft and not agressive enough to match their style. Oh yeah you still have a heart-o-gram avitar. haha ever watch thrasher king of the road?

I was talking in general, womens skis are indeed designed differently.

It is true that any badass woman could and mostlikely should be skiing a mens ski.

If you look at womens skis in general, they usually do use older mens molds for the skis with really the exception of k2 who has the whole t9 ladies design team

generally they are just softer versions of mens skis, but sometimes the mounting point is actually a cm or 2 further forward because of the centre of mass. Also k2 have a womens specific core, called bioflex which uses both spruce and fir, I think the mens just use fir. Spruce having the advantage of being softer and lighter.

I hope Head really listen to Grete's input, cos if they do they could come out with some sick shit. Perhaps building on a slighly more credible reputation than the roxy brand. not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with roxy.

i think its really good for head...she can have a very positive influence on womens skis....every company needs that...yup two cents

yeah there are actually a lot of differences between a mans and womans ski. contrary to popular ski industry belief of the past, women are not just smaller, weaker men. grete signing with a company like head that already has a killer womens line in the all mountain segment gives her a ton of room to extend that into a true womens freeride line as well. head's doing a lot of good things these days.

werd i could tell from the beginning who the real creator of this thread was. And i dont think public opinion should matter, its her choice of career, not anyone elses. Im sure she has educated reasons for doing what she did, end of story.
