ok, this vid has like over 18 mil. views so probably not new to everyone, but worth sharing. i dunno if a lot of you have listened to paul potts. at first glance, he looks like pretty goofy...the word dumpy comes to mind. he was a car phone salesman in south wales. not anymore.

although, opera and contemporary vocal are not my music genres of choice, i definitely do appreciate them, and this guy gave me the chills. maybe it's just a soft spot of mine, and maybe kids on here trying desperately to seem tough will say this is too melodramatic, but i feel happy for him.

^dude shut the fuck up, this guy is a champ and you know it, I would never in my life ever listen to opera but this dude straight up gave me the chills. This guy is a phone salesman and he just belted that shit out, come on man give the dude some respect. I'm comfortable enough with my masculinity to say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching that shit and you should be too

I can cry pretty easily. like if I really think about if one of my good friends died, and I had to speak at their funeral, I can make myself cry, or if I see a sad story about a mother whose child died.

but some guy singing opera isnt going to make me shed a tear.

i smiled for that guy the whole time, amazing, even if you dont like opera you gotta give him his dues, that was great

why does one need to confess one's comfort with their masculinity to admit liking opera or anything other than hip hop and what not.

I would say you've never seen really great opera, then. There's nothing feminine about having culture.

... Except the ballet. That's just gay.

^hahaha...that was classic. but yeah, not only is he uber-talented, but he's a story in and of himself, and a good one at that. btw, i searchbar-ed his name, 'opera', and 'britain's got talent' and didn't see any thread about him, so i guess i missed that one that is up above a little ways.

i doubt you would have searched "THE FREAKING MAN!"

the only reason he knew about it was because he created it.

He ended up winning Great Britain's Got Talent, he will be performing for the Queen sometime this week, I think it actually may be today but i'm not 100% sure. I am no fan of Opera but that guy gave me goosebumps, just incredible. He also used some of his winnings to get his teeth fixed apparently.

He deserved to win

That's the thing... he's pretty good, but come on, everyone's getting all over the guy's nuts and it's not like he's Pavarotti.

i saw that a while ago. opened my eyes a bit to opara. but i doubt singing like that is THAT unique in the opara scene.

Whoa... thanks for posting this.

I haven't seen it yet and was kind of blown away. The look on Simon's face when it starts, halfway through, and the end is funny. Starts like "This is gonna be good.. HA!" then goes to a "Is this a recording or something... he's really good." and then ends it with a "I can't believe that just happened"/

he's good no denying that, put lets give the three tenors some props, they ran shit in the opera business.

at first i thought it was going to be bad but it was really good. i got the chills as well. he has a great voice and definate career
