I just got the new HD hero and it lags ALOT when i try and edit it. To the point where I cant review the edit and am editing blind basicly. I use song Vegas 7 and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

i may be in the same boat however i have'nt opened it yet (bought it myself mom made me wrap it)cause my dad is a pilot and had to work so i don't get to open stuff til tomorow and i was curious as well about memory cards i bought a Lexar 16 GB class 4. i was told that should work but i want another opinion and if i make another thread about it i will be murdered by NS.

Yo I had a class 4 4GB SD card, filmed with it all day today, and I had the same problem when i got home it seemed to lag on my computer.Tried it on another one, and everything was perfectly smooth...
So to the OP you need another computer, to the other guy your 16GB class 4 will be perfect.

thanks a bunch man i'm just gonna test it out walking around my house tomorow and make a few "House hold activity edits with rap music" to see how it works lol

Yeah dude, get more ram or dont shoot at 1080p.

You probably have troubles watching Vimeo / Youtube HD on your comp too.

wow NS is no help at all.

how about this. My HV40 plays FINE on my comp and on vegas. the go pro does not, dosent matter. "you need a new comp" seems to be the response im going to get

sorry to say it again but that is the reason. Some comps need extra ram to be able to process the hig quality video for editing.

hv40 footage ≠ goprohd footage

hdv ≠ avchd

avchd takes much more computing power than hdv.

jeez before freaking out, it would have been nice to have these said info's about you having a HV40.

and listen to e-heath!

the preview on sony vegas (just above the screen) should be preveiw (auto) if it still doesnt work go to task manager, processes and end all the ones you dont need, hope this helps.

Try rendering the parts you're worried about, specific transitions and whatnot, and leave the rest alone. You might be lacking in rendering power for the entire sequence.

yea your right about avchd taking more power but that might not be his issue. He may need a faster computer but vegas is also having problems decompressing the .mp4 container. My computer runs the highest avalible bit rate(24mb) of .mts like butter, however when i try to work with my go pro footy, it crash's vegas every two seconds. hopefully they will come out with a fix soon, until then i recommend proxy editing or just recompressing and saying fuck it to the loss of quality.

at least vegas will open it, premeire thinks that its just an audio file.
