HD DVD is officially dead

HD-DVD:

-single layer 15 gb

-dual layer 30 GB

blu ray:

single layer 25 gb

dual layer 50 gb

plus blu-ray sounds more tech with the name implying that the laser is blue

plus blu-ray is backed by sony

I cant beleive anyone is really suprised. I have been telling people that blu-ray was going to win since the war started 2 years ago.

I'm sure your expert analysis of the situation is always taken as the truth. You should have called Toshiba 2 years ago and just told them to pack up...I'm sure once they heard the words from your mouth they would have listened...

You had a 50/50 chance in picking it...don't claim.

As for the issue, it is essentially a battle of HD formats. DVD's are today tech but as HD TV's, HD programming and HD cameras become the norm, people will be switching to them and the format will now be Blu-Ray exclusivly.

And the reason for switching from DVD's to Blu-ray discs is capacity. High Def has so much more information then normal video that its not possible to get things like HD movies on a normal DVD...they need something bigger (hence the format war).

microsoft didn't completely back hd-dvd in that they only equipped the 360 with the HD-DVD drive as an add on. look for blue-ray add ons for the 360 within the next year or so.

Not for a while. Eventually dvd's will be phased out but until most people have hdtv's and bluray players dvds will still be the norm. It will probably be a while.

People still use VHS's for christ sake...don't shit the bed people...its not really that big of a deal (unless you bough an hd dvd player :P)
