Having trouble with front 270 out

i’m having the same issue but mine is that my tails hit the rail and stop me from making my tuen

It helps me to focus on the actual spin and my upper body rather than my lower body. I try to focus on moving my head/shoulders (and hips by extension) while staying balanced on the rail as I come off. That’s the only thing that has helped me with front 2 outs.

Even with back 2 outs, I can’t feel my feet scissoring/pedaling/whatever even though I know when I’ve “locked on a rail” and I’ve seen photos of myself using my skis to spin off.

"lift your knees" is good advice for almost any spin into/on/out of a rail. give that a shot?

OP don't overthink the pedaling. for a fs 270 you only need enough control being locked onto the rail that you can start a very small spin. think more about your upper body and commit to the spin. don't worry too much about your feet and how exactly they land, it's a small spin off a small feature, you don't need to stress over that part much at all

Try practicing the pedaling motion while standing still on a rail or box. Then you just do the same thing while moving, give it a bit of a pop, and the 270 should come around.

Try not to spin until closer to the end of the rail and maybe pop off the rail a little

This is kinda hard to explain. I’m thinking you’re leaning a little far forward (not towards the end of the rail, just more torwards your chest) I think the pedaling motion would be easier if you lean more towards your back.

I might get flamed for this comparison but the footwork is actually kinda like a daffy butter. For the front 2 out you want to put pressure on the heel of your front foot and toe of your back foot. To get familiar with it practice using this motion to come out of the rail regular instead of switch.

To do a front two:

1. Make sure the rail is centered underfoot, and that your skis are perpendicular to the rail. If you're sliding off one way or the other at the end of the rail you'll have a much harder time.

2. Start to crouch down a little bit, and coil your upper body in the opposite direction that you're going to spin (just like you're about to 3 a jump). As you do this, apply that toe/heel pressure as described above.

3. When you reach the end of the rail, jump up and uncoil your upper body. Complete the rotation just like you would a 360, look over your shoulder in the direction of your spin and spot your landing.

4. Land switch and afterbang away into the sunset, content in your mastery of the skiing art

i finally got some that i considered landing the trick. i made my runway a little longer and got more speed and it helped a bunch with catching my tails on the rail

I just got it today and I have no idea what to tell you just try again and again on an easy rail and it will just click. I guess you could try going to forward but tweaking a little before you land.

Getting a solid pop off the rail and rotating your hips/shoulders are just as important as the pedal. The pedal just postures your frontside and presets your rotation. When you go to pedal just think about sliding on the inside edge of your front ski in a daffy-like motion. Try and catch your edge near the heel piece of your binding.
