Hat that acts as a helmet by tightening molecules.

Not as good as a helmet, but still, better than just any old hat. Its an interesting idea however for jackets and thermal layers however.

how much better do you guys think helmets are? and what would be the differences? i understand the reaction isn't as immediate as helmet because of the molecule reaction time but its within thousandths of a second. not bad. it seems fine to me. but give me some reasons why helmets are better.

Its easy for it displace the impact of a thin flat shovelblade, but if he smacked him with the same force, but with the handle, it would have ended much differently

meh, if you rock your gord hard enough, you're going to get fucked up no matter what. cool shit, but the application as a head protector might not be its best use.

They have stuff like this for football pads like knee thigh hip etc. It acts just like the cornstarch water stuff. it's liquid then when it is compressed it turns solid. it's not it's molocule compacting you tards, it is the individual particles . this has been around foreva.

i would buy some d30 impact shorts if they made them. they might be a lot more comfortable than the ones with the pads in them

the reason a helmet works is because it lessens the force exerted on your head when it hits something by lengthening the time it takes your head to stop. Helmets have a styrofoam like material that compacts on impact making the deceleration of your head less severe. this stuff is like wearing an iron helmet, your skull might not crack, but your brain will slam into your skull with the same speed as if you were not wearing anything. It's really not that great. If you don't belive me look at the pysics behind it. If your head decelerates over twice the distance it cuts the force exerted on your head by 1/2. that stuff doesn't compress, so even if a helmet casues your head to decelearte over 1 more inch it cuts down the force exerted on your brain by a lot.

non-Newtonian. the molecules are lined up so that if you press gently theyll just move out of the way but if you smack them they stay lined up and act as a solid.

i'm def skeptical for its helmet use. but could u imagine using it in paintball? itd prob take some of the fun out of it but u'd be a tank.

yea, this should only be used in pads really.

Its basically like wearing (like the guy a bit above me said) an iron helmet.

if you had this material in a better use, like using it in a helmet, but on the outside, or inbetween the hard plastic, and the padding that touches your head, it could work.

wow thats intense i'd want the helmet liners and the clothing

i'd be funny if they made a steezey condom cap with that
