Has there ever been a ski you just completely hated?

I've owned/own a lot of skis, demo'ed a tone more, and groped, fondled and stroked as many as possible, and there have been very few I hated. Most of them havent been twins (fuck salomon streetracers, forever) but i was wondering how everyone else's experiences have been.

The only twins i've skied that i really havent like at all were salomon lords. i just thought they were dead, squierrelly, unstable, and i just wasnt happy on them at all. other people completely contrasted my view, at the same demo, they just really werent for me. demo bindings probably really didnt help their cause.

K2 Public Enemy's. I'm sure a lot will disagree with me on this one, but there was absolutely nothing that made that ski worthy of being skied. It was heavy, dead, and honestly made skiing less fun when I tried them. Anyone else agree?

i feel like the lords are salomons way to market rockered technology to weekend warriors. they've got subtle graphics, really small tails...idk i think the gun is salomons more jib oriented ski and its foam core and essentially 10 years old. and i haven't skied too many skis, but i skied guns and didn't like them very much. they seemed super chattery..but to be fair it was pretty icy when i skied them.

Totally agree, they were my first pair of twins so I thought that they were alright, but compared to other skis that I have tried, they are just lifeless Pieces of Wood/fiberglass. Way too stiff and heavy...

i absolutely detest k2 juvy's, i used them when i was like 11 and fucking hated them, also k2 pe's and k2 race stock skis...i guess i just hate k2 (bents and seth's aside)

truth! those were my first pair of twins! there hardly even twins wayyyy to soft i ended up sanding off the top sheet and putting on a custom on and sold em to my friends sistershe loves em though

shoot i love my pes and ive skiied pretty much everthing else but to each his own if i there was one ski i absoulutly hated it is the older scott p3 worst fucking ski around

totally agree with you. Iv only felt them and i hate em. soooo stiff and heavy.

But iv always hated elans and always loved armadas

i didn't really like those old scratch fs's with the caution tape. kinda soft and noodly, and didn't really hold an edge too well. but i admit that that was a couple years ago when i skied them. i always thought my PEs were too heavy too. i think i had 04-05s with a carbon core or something. bombproof, and charged well, but stiff and heavy.

Yeah. Even my invaders are more fun to ski steeps, trees and drops with. Especially groomers. And invaders aren't even an all mountain ski.

My theory on this is that, the only skis that ive been on that I didn't like were skis that weren't meant for me. Either too short, too soft whatever, (most) ski companies can't afford to be in the business of putting out shitty products, you just have to find the right match for you.

Precisely. See above. that kid despised the foils, i love em. im so upset they have been discontinued..

On a ski trip my regular pair of skis got a major core shot so I had to ski on an extra pair of k2s that my friend's dad brought I don't remember exactly which ones they were, but they were apart of the Apache line up. I absolutely hated the things. Talk about an overweight pos. It had a HUGE metal spine down the center that bubbled up and looked retarded. The dang things felt like I was skiing on a pair of semi trucks. Worst time ever. Then he tells me they were the women's version, and I was just wondering what type of amazon woman would even think about buying them.

Agreed! Unresponsive, heavy, sucked the fun out of skiing. Also didn't like anthems much.. they killed it in the park but i found them squirelly/flappy and unpredictable on piste.. and no fun in powder..

I found them lacking any pop and too heavy to enjoy in the park.
Could never work out why so many people ski'd them at one point, maybe just the cool graphics.

Public Enemy, Sumo, Suspect, Lord, Kung Fujas, Recon, Elan MO2.2, Movement Yaka Jam/Spark, Disorderly, probably others I'm forgetting.

This thread is awesome BTW.....

Hated- well, i cant say ive ever met a ski i completly hated, but i didnt like the PE's a whole lot, they did charge hard though, i really didnt like the prophets and still dont, they felt like some balsa wood on my feet.

Loved- The original Ak Enemy from K2, the maiden AK, the pocket rocket (still think this is one of the best skis ever made, and i did like my foils, the were fun to play on, not real fast, a little soft and durability sucked, but you could get them cheap.

Isnt the Lord basically a Foil with a wood core and an extra soft tip? I thought about getting a pair, i just wished they would of added about 10mm to the waist. The tails are turned up more than enough i feel to do anything you need to. The seem like they will be some pretty BA skis. with everyone going 95+ in the waist now it makes me want to get something wide. feels like the new "midfat" skis are 95-110mm now. anyways, keep this thread going, i love it.

surprisingly enough i couldnt stand the 4frnt 09 stl's or the 05 stl's or the 05 rossi scratch jr.

09 stl was to stiff and didnt have a good agressive carve at all, wasnt to jibby and felt kind of dead and they were a little to diretional for me

05 stl's were wayyyy to soft for a single ski person there crzy fun if you have another pair of skis to use for anything but buttering and spinning crazy fast on small jumps, cause they cant land there way to soft

05 rossi scratchs jr. there way to stiff for a jr ski, i hated them when i was little, maybe if i was a more aggresive skier when i was little but stil way stiff not good for anything but charging through crud when your little, but iv used the latly even though there 35cm to short for me and i liked them quite abit since there so stiff but short and jibby

pe's were my first proper twin tip so i cant really compare. stoked to get some rossi scream in's though.

Most of those mentioned are just nothing special and over-hyped. The Sumo just skied horribly even in soft snow, MO2.2 has a ridiculously soft nose, the Movements had pretty much no grip.

The Suspects skied horribly, they wouldn't turn at all. K2 Crossfire skied switch better than them. The demo pair might have just been really badly tuned though , I need to try them again sometime.

Aww! PE's are getting so much hate in this thread. Its true, they are stiff and heavy, but they are INDESTRUCTABLE! I've got the originals, 03-04, theyre my urban skis now, and probably will be for years to come. Skied them hard for 3 seasons, skied down piles of gravel, dirt, sand, ridden/walked them over concrete, broken glass, slid tons of rails on them, skied them over grass being pulled by an ATV, skied them into a lake in the summer, left them sit outside for about 3 weeks over the summer. all that's happened to them is one heel-piece pulled out, some discoloration on the topsheet (the sun turned them light yellow), dulled edges, a scartched base, and a few edge cracks. they don't break!

aww i hate to see the PEs get so much hate on this thread. kinsidering probably more than half of NS has owned or ridden the PEs. I personally loved my PEs, but i guess theres a reason so many people didnt like them. Anyways my least favorite skis were, hands down, my 05 scott P3s. the worst ski in the history of skis. heavy, terrible graphics, delamed the first week i had them, absolutley terrible. the reason i will never by scott skis again.

the pe because theyre soo stiff and soo heavy. when it came out they said that it would be a good park ski but i think thats impossible for how stiif it is. you cant call a ski that stiff a park ski epspecially when its almost impossible to do butters and presses. im glad they finally decided to get rid of that ski this year

honestly, every salomon ski I've ever been on. I don't like them because they drive themselves and are super easy to overpower. They ski how they're meant to ski, regardless of how you want them to ski.
