Has FD fallen off ?

K so we know Wallish didnt, but it seems like popularity is at an all time low for first drop. they double posted the suit picker 2 weeks apart and got about 10 replies total in the 2 threads. The have enough overstock to say "we are re releasing certain models from last year to help give more color options" since the zip off arms dont work on old vs new jackets, we know its just old stock.

what happened ?

Last Friday?

Summer?

First Drop didnt make skis?

Waterproofing matters ?

Quality Matters ?

Recession?

any help would be great ! +k ns !

Their new suits looks pretty sick, and if popularity drops, whatever, because I think their shit just keeps getting tighter every year. But it probably has to do with almost the whole NS population jumping on the "hating FD" trend

Or another theory, maybe not everyone on ns hates first drop like you do. is it because they didn't want to send you a free suit that one year or something? seriously the only posts i ever see from you are about hating firstdrop

i just bought a coat from them and personally i think that its pretty sick i dont really know why people dont like fd.

i don't like how they present themselves as a company. if they had any professionalism they'd have more customers

I don't think they've fallen off. Everyone on NS seems to hate them, but NS is a tiny percentage of their target audience. A very small percentage of freestyle skiers actually go on NS, at least among the kids I know, and I still see more first drop at my local hill than Saga, Armada, or Salomon (unfortunately).

I think the shit this year is tight. I'll probably get a pair of pants but the quality/durability issues are why I haven't bought anything from them in the past. I also was not a fan of the past color ways but I'm diggin some this year

Don't get the FD hate, it's a great concept and I like the look of both the V3 and V4. Yeh there has been durability issues but from what I heard FD's customer service wasn't awful. Also you have to admire Lesh's determination; if I wasn't over here in the UK I probably would look at picking up some of their stuff for next season.

I would just like to point out that professionalism doesn't exist. It's all just a show of "I'm scared so I won't do anything overly amazing or overly terrible, just be neutral and I won't bother anyone".

Sure the company might mess up at sometimes, but what company doesn't? If anything I think it makes them more human, especially when they don't try to cover it up like some larger companies that do some insanely nasty shit.

not really, I see more and more of it every year, and now i think there new stuff can be really taken seriously. its not that bad of stuff, especially not if you ride all inbounds. i have a second generation suit and while i did have a couple of durability issues the first couple of months, since then i have had no problems. i was actually surprised how well it held up in its second season with all the shit i dragged it through

FD Is a solid company with very good customer service. They continue to make changes to their outerwear based on customer feedback and suggestions. Allot of us FD supporters don't care to make posts on every thread like "shit looks dope" or viceversa on companies we don't like find the need to hate and say stupid shit like "I'd pee in their butt". As far as the v3 to v4 sleeves don't make stuff up when you really don't know. Your basing that off of my comment / feedback for them. Wear what you like, you have nothing to prove and don't waste your time hating. If you don't like it why even click on the thread.

Now that people will realize that they upped their quality..maybe they can recover. If not then that sucks

It's two different things:

First of all, "most of NS" doesn't hate FD. It's a VERY few loudmouth asshole children that feel the need to hate on them in some sort of shitty attempt of e-praise because their own mom and dad don't give them any attention.

Second, people actually realize that they're making a high quality outerwear, and don't feel the need to argue with those idiots mentioned earlier. Hence, the FD threads don't turn into the shit-shows of the past.

I certainly don't have any numbers, but I'd be willing to bet that FD is grabbing a larger market share percentage every year.

First off I hate first drop because of their poor quality, stupid looking suits and poor PR. They act like fucking retards and David Lesh can't make up his mind on what image the company wants to portray.

Second, their shit is actually still horrible. I know several people who, regretfully, have purchased first drop pants and been soaked to the core at the end of a good pow day.

Maybe if they focus on one idea and one image for their company, stop acting like complete fucking idiots when dealing with the public, decide on a company logo that doesn't look like some sort of phallic object, stop making suits that looks like they asked Bozo the clown to design and then start to make some real high quality products that don't have leaks everywhere then they might start gaining some respect in a couple years.

Well not sure what your friends have but I have the FD v3 pants and saga anomie pants. Both are great quality, the same 20K waterproof, and have never had a problem with either in pow, let alone being soaked to the core. Don't waste your time hatin. No need to reply.

You're right man my parent's don't give me enough love so I have to turn to the internet to hate on a a ski outerwear company to make me happy. Dumbass

Sending him a free suit to allow him to compare it to Saga and Trew would have been the worst business move of all time. And considering some of their business moves, that's saying something.

Not gonna make a lengthy post, but simply put, we've been thoroughly pleased with every item of FD we've bought! The durability of my sons suit has been awesome. I dont get the hate, aside from the last couple of edits/ads released "last friday" etc.

chill about this professionalism shit. theyre just some skiers lookin to ski and make some money off of what they love. this isnt investment banking, professionalism has no place in the ski industry. it's way iller that you can run a company and still chill hard with your homies and shit than have to put on a suit, tie, and stop filming hilarious party edits just to sell some jackets. I know another side of skiing in which professionalism is a must for breaking into the market - racing. fucking suit wearing FIS assholes, and multimillion dollar corporations dominate the market run by people with a good business sense but havent skied a day in their life (atomic, head, etc... these are corporations....). i think its nice that we can take the world a little less seriously, and that guys like lesh can have a good time while doing what they love and making some money from it. especially with the olympics coming, and obvious multi-million dollar corporate invesment into our sport we need companies like FD to keep it chill. so dude do you want core park skiing companies to show more professionalism? oh wait that shits gay, live a little.

the only reason people dont like FD is because their butthurt over how FD presents themselves. but when you get down to it they have some sick stuff. AND they are the only outerwear company that lets you design your own gear, which i think is pretty damn cool.

pretty much this. im never butt hurt at them, they actually proved my point for me and us without even sending a suit, but we can all research that topic more if there are doubts.

The "waterproofing ratings mean nothing" ended it for me. How an apparently-professional, apparently-serious apparel company can even think to say that is beyond me. Waterproofing ratings are literally the way I determine whether or not I should buy certain gear. It's indispensable. If something is only 5k waterproofing or breathability, I'm not going to buy it. I live in the PNW. So saying that takes out a good chunk of market, with Seattle, Portland, Bend, Spokane, Eugene, etc. all in that category.

First Drop never was up, so it can't fall off. Their quality sucks, the suits are some wack ass circus clown shit. It's be at home under the big top, where the fact that it's not waterproof at all wouldn't be an issue.

I think FD is dope.. considering i got a good pair of pants and the most comfortable jacket i've ever worn for a total of $255. thats a steal for the quality they make… i don't know if everyone hating on FD has tried their products first hand or just basing it off what they hear and just assume cheap prices = cheap products… but i love my FD jacket and pants and have no regret in my purchase. true, the V4 has hardly any colors and they aren't very appealing.. but they made a good move at keeping the V3 going too because that what i have and i love it.. keep up the good work FD
