Has Anyone....

has anyone tried to spin off of a jump and then in mid air turn the opposite way? landed of course.

the closest thing to that is a shifty. it would be impossible to completely change the direction of your rotation mid-spin

i dont think possible unless you tap something and then use it to get the other spin around. i mean, we saw fujas and he struggled super hard just to go 90 to revert 270.

Well, actually, if you are talking about getting at least 360 one way, and then another 360 the other way in the same jump...
It IS physically possible, IF you are also flipping, by using "tilt twist" (which is the easy way of saying - conservation of angular momentum). Tilt twist is basically converting flipping momentum into spinning momentum and that twisting can be stopped and reset in another direction if an athlete has the airtime to do it.
It's kind of complicated and doubtful anyone on here would really get it or care, but, for example, by using tilt twist, a freestyle aerialist could perform a full-tuck-full with the full twists in different directions.
Anyways, ask a gymnast or freestyle aerialist, they could explain it to you.
I think some of them have done it at water ramps, but don't know of anyone who has intentionally done it on snow.

Charles Gangier has also done that^, but it was in a sw rodeo, but he only reverted like 120 degrees, still nuts though!

i think tis in his coors light video challenge thing from a couple years ago

Yea charles gagnier was trying them, he was trying switch cork 5 pretz 180.

That pep vid is so crazy, i dont know how he brings that back the other way

unless you're using some other object to spin off of (tree, random jib), it would definitely be impossible.

Pep Fujas at JOI? back in the day... 90 revert to 270 the other way, watch the video posted a few posts up, yup it blew my mind too.

I saw that, but I believe the OP is talking about something along the lines of 360 revert to 360

I agree with you that that was one crazy shifty, but i don't think it could be called a revert as his torso was always facing forward, in my eyes it is just a shifty.

I think what we are looking for in this thread is for the whole body (torso included) to be rotating one way, then mid-jump, rotate the other way.

word, but i'm just saying it isn't physically impossible to spin one direction and then spin the opposite direction... 90 to 270 counts in my book.

candide used to do those weird switch rodeo 5ish things where it would be a leftside spin, but as he set down the last 90 sorta went to the right.. sorta weird

You would have to set so lightly.... then do something like - 180, to super duper shifty (to get round final 180), then try and snap it back around 3...

Sounds pretty gnarly to me...

I dunno if you know what physics is, but its this certain kind of science that would give your genius little idea a serious kick in the balls. Its not gonna happen.

It's pretty hard to stop your momentum in mid-air and yank it back in the complete opposite direction. When this happens you get Pep Fujas and the flail! It was some pretty gnarly flailing (is that a word??) I'd have to say!

i wonder... can you black flip, but once u see the ground pull a sort-of superman front flip forward to your feet?
