.. i dont get the story at all and i have to write a speech on what i would do if i was in the situation.. can anyone help?

actually the girls seeked excitement in a puritan village and it goes on a blame game for the rest of the book and the moral of it is that religeon and law do not mix and they should be seperate in society.
