Screw ipods. I got a cd player of ebay for 5 bucks, it works, so yeah. I do have 34 gigs of music on my computer though.

one friend of mine has about 60 gigs worth of music. he just loaded all of it onto his ipod, put it on shuffle and has seriously gone about a month and a half and he's just a little over half way through.

I had about 20 or so. Deleted most of it cuz my comp is a piece of shit and now I'm down to about 5. But I've only got a 10GB old ass 2nd Gen Ipod.

My friend has 2 40GB iPods filled, both with different sets of music, and about 87GB of music in all.

A bunch of it is really long hour mixes that he has spun with all his crazy dj-ness.

Most of you who have 40 gigs are using 256k or higher compression I would guess. If not, my other guess is that you dont listen to half of it more than once in a year.

You dont realize that higher bit rates = shitty battery life. At 256k you get half as much music (although higher quality) in the cache memory, meaning the hard drive has to spin twice as often as it would at 128k or four times as often as 64k. If battery life isnt an issue, though, more power to you. I'm an audiophile as well; I cannot stand shitty quality music. I know this sounds bitchy but anything under 128 is shit to listen to. What I've done with mine is made a shit quality section and a good quality section for times when I need to conserve battery and when I need some huge bass. It's your choice, tho.

Why would you need to run at 250k, 128 is as good as you can get if your ripping off a CD, the rest is just wasted
