seems pretty easy, but do you think it might crack when you land on it?

Looks like it would just complicate things, but I like the thinking. Let us know how it goes.

^ Yea we've hit it a few times, but the screws on the side holding it on catch easily. It hasn't cracked yet, but we've only hit it a couple times. I think that aslong as the pvs is close to the wood it should just bend and not crack.

^^^ its pvc cut and pulled over a piece of wood. i wanted to do that but i didnt have the patience to saw all the way down my pvc. yea tell me how it works looks good

ive built a few rails like this and it works fine.. hasn't ever cracked or nething and u can drill screws in from the side so u never even have the chance of catching

That, my friend, is gonna take a shit ton of snow, unless you plan on hitting it as an up flat, good luck. looks nice though.

i made mine with the half, and its much easier to lock the pvc into the wood, also i feel that its more stable

Although it may be easier to build, it also makes it easier to break. Given, some of you may have used this style before, and it may have worked fine, but the way it's been mounted in the pic is asking to crack it. If you want to do a half-tube, rather than putting the wood 'in' the pipe, keep it out of it, and simply place the half-tube on a flat surface of wood. By putting the wood in the tube, its like having a wedge pushing two pieces apart (although in this case only one round piece.) This may be hard to understand, but the general jist of it is just keep the pipes full, because that's how they're meant to be kept, and that's how they'll be the strongest.

we actually took a peice of 2x4 and if ur looking at it like this |__| so that the underline part is the 4 inches and the verticle lines ar the 2 part of a 2x4 we cut the corner off all the way down so that there was more wood in contact with the pipe and the gaps where the pipe was touching was taking less of the pressure..havnt tried it but it was easy puttin it all together...the pvc was like butter through the table saw and all u do is screw it in from the sides...
