Has Any Resort Hit $300 For A Day Ticket Yet?

only at normal mountains which I have grown to dislike

What's considered "normal mtns" everywhere is starting to charge $$ these days. Even the smaller places have upped their prices and gotten rid of the deals.

im talking about like real ass *mountains*, obviously everything more expensive but skiing on hills in the midwest is still relatively affordable

Not sure this counts jacking it up just for 1 day but probably what Vail and Big Sky and those places were waiting for to change the first number on a day pass.

Snowbird used to do the $450 chair-only pass without tram rides (you could always sneak some in during the spring lol), it's ludacrious to see a day ticket cost $150 less than that.

Meh. We should jump right to 500. Skiing is the experience of a lifetime. Seems reasonable considering skydiving costs around that and you're just jumping out of a plane and paying to not die. Sounds pretty meh too me.

This is my favorite description of skydiving I have ever read

Came here to post this. $309. That’s absurd. That’s 3/5ths of a Loveland season pass. Hell that IS a powderhorn season pass.

But I mean honestly, if you compare a local pass like Loveland to ikon pass - you can see where that extra $300,$400 is going. Huge difference in infrastructure. I’ve never been to snow bowl but I’ve been to resorts with same owner and I can’t imagine it’s worth $309.

Yo Flowz they still not checking passes there or they got RFID now? I remember a few years ago I went to the valley and didn’t even bother getting a ticket. It was the same as Bristol until recently

RFID now but it’s just people with guns at the main lifts. If u can make it to morningstar to ride fids ur all good. usually could make it if it’s busy. if ur heading down here on a week day tbh i’d just buy a mont pass tho. the park is way way better

They are just scaring people into buying next years season pass once it goes onsale. And the higher the day pass the more they can nudge the season pass up. Infrastructure is overrated I don't think there is absolutely anything new or different at Snowbird and Alta than there was 20 years ago same lifts same shit all the buildings haven't changed.

When you think about all the really good steep resorts are the oldest and have been around since the 1930s Squaw Stowe Alta etc.

Rich white people can afford it for themselves but I don't know who can learn at these prices. I mean as a kid I had afterschool trips once or twice a week to ski a tiny hill with my and messed around with friends and was always able to ski with my parents they never stuck me in lessons or programs since I could keep up. Didn't appreciate going to little Nashoba Valley with my public elementary school at the time on Tuesdays but I sure do now.

Ski area dynamic pricing could be a game changer in the industry. I know it’s been going on a few years now, but if analytics match up and demand stays high this could pop some serious ticket prices.

Now, how many people are buying a day ticket, day off, at peak price and capacity? Not a lot, but there are some.

The big question is why are ski ticket prices so damned high?

Another thread had photos of ski ticket prices from ~15 years ago and, accounting for inflation, the prices have more than doubled (I think I got that right).

Why?

Over that same time period electricity prices have mostly matched inflation, salaries have mostly matched inflation, fuel has fluctuated a lot but mostly matched inflation.

At the same time, lots of the independently owned hills haven't shot up that much. My local hill is $41 for night skiing, 15 years ago it was about $30-35. So pretty well tracking inflation.

What's been the big change?

I heard on good authority that there are still significant amounts of day tickets being bought at the bird

With good reason. Its only a major city with direct flights everywhere plenty of people know folks who live there and its better lift serviced terrain than any resort on the planet. And it gets the most snow.

No shit if you aren't one of the 99.9999% of SLC residents who buy a season pass to Alta/Snowbird and like skiing you might buy a day ticket there. Even if you ran out of Ikons it might be so good you can't say no all the homies are out etc.

\

It was awesome being in Utah in early December with full coverage and skiing on every lift at Alta/Snowbird my 4 Mountain Collective Days BC the Ikon folks were preserving their days. They weren't wrong either to wait and save them I missed the really deep stuff.

I personally preferred Nov/Dec to January even though Jan was deeper because no lines

Yeah that is lame.

I'm going to Big Sky a weekend after this and have mountain collective but it will be 120 to ride their tiny ass tram even with a free day

Shit u scared me...that's for all-day window rates. But still $87 weekend 8hr, $70 weekday 8hr, and no senior or student discount is fucked. Not to mention half the stuff worth skiing is closed >50% of the year.

I thought they were bad when window prices hit $65 for 8hrs. Fuck me. I'd rather have shitty lifts and cheap tickets than high speed quads on every slope.

Side note, does anyone know if 7 springs is still doing Mondays in March this year? (aka free day ticket with other season passes)

Work at a vail or powder owned resort and obtain free ski pass epic or ikon pass. Its that easy why are you guys complaining? I sat on a zamboni last season at keystone and didnt do shit and got to ski free. Its simple

Those cunts at Vail cancelled my employee pass when I was unable to find housing after driving across the country to work for them. Fuck off.

So you did not provide them employment and they did not provide you a pass? Interesting.

Yeah, but then you have to work for Vail…

I worked a few days for them and spent way more than a past cost travelling and looking for housing.

They suck and shut the pass off like 6 weeks after I left so I still got 30 days on it. I still hate them it was at Crested Butte which had no employee housing.

Fucking Snowbasin wanted 200 today if you didn't have Ikon/MC or a pass.

Are Aspen or Deer Valley over 3 yet? Vail? Who will be the first to get there? I have to think next year someone will.

Unfortunately, it's really like 500 dollars due to inflation. By 2030, only very rich Asians and Jews blood related to Katz will be allowed to ski at these resorts. The rest, including athletes, will be grinding electrified handrails in smart cities using cardboard skis or building their own mountains out o trash and sewerage compost.

I'm not certain but I have a strong suspicion that it is gone since this is the first year vail is actually running the show up there.

It used to be explicitly advertised on their website. If you can't find any sign of it on their site as march approaches I would assume it's gone
