Harveys knew mag- what it needs to be

after the death of freeze and axis, freeskier continued to churn up lame magazine after lame magazine. Freeskier was so bad i was embarassed to show it to my snowboarder friends. Freeskier didn't really capture the sport like Transworld or Snowboarder has done for snowboarding. I think if Harveys mag doesn't want to fall in the same cracks as Freeskier, it should listen to us, the core ski population. I think ski time should be filled with rider interviews, legit movie and segment awards, up and coming skier articles no more mogul adds, rider awards, more adds and of cource more pictures. what do you guys think matt harveys mag should have in it.

i dont think we need to worry, it will be the best ever

what's up now bitch

i think they should make sure not to make spelling errors like "knew" and "cource"

witty cent is now live on stage!

Ski Time needs to say it like it is and to take a stand on issues like where the sport should be going.

Freeskier is pretty, non-intruisive and easily forgotton. When was the last time you read or saw something in Freeskier that made say 'What!'. They don't stand for anything.

I think giving Harvey his own mag is one of the best things that they could have done.

I'm trustin harvey look to what he has done with this website with some of the collaborators.

rock yo shit

Judging by his work on NS & Freeskier, I think Harvey has the guts and influence to say it like it is and that's just what skiing needs for media.

Ok, for those that are not business savvy, you HAVE to have ads in a magazine. That is how you make money. Subscription revenue does nothing for a magazine financially. If McDonalds decides they want to spend 12K on a spread ad in a magazine they are usually going to get it. It ultimately comes down to cash. If it gives them more cash to spend on: good writers, good photography, unique events, industry parties ect, then you should just ignore the Mountain Dew or McDonald's ad in the magazine and enjoy the enhanced features they are able to create because of the additional capital. If it means that I have to flip through shitty McDonald's ads to get to some really good content, I am all for it. Since Harvey's mag is only 2 issues this year, they will have lots of ads in it.

I own you

yeah dude who cares is in add, it is more money for the mag

im fine with adds, as long as its not half of the freakin magazine like other shit i read (not always ski stuff..) its really annoying to have up to four consecutive pages of adds, only to find yourself with an add every other page...

harvey used to manage this site and still get on here to see what we're saying he knows what this mag needs to be and he knows what we want. Harvey is a smart guy i don't think we need to worry about any of his decision making skills

'kevin whyed nils pull you out?' 'Cuz i was touchin bitches.' 'No seriously why did he put scott in for you.' 'Scott doesn't touch bitches.'

I'd like to see just skiing ads in a skiing magazine as well. But it won't happen. Unless ski companies shell out a ton of cash(more than McDonalds or something like that), it's not going to happen. You are asking for something that cannot be given to you. It is like asking for a year round winter for New York or something. It's not going to happen if the magazine wants to stay finantially stable.

Ski time should have a ton of rider input. It should have 4x as many interviews as other mags, or at least rider written articles.

It should have funny stuff like the PJ Cliche kid that's sponsored by Bling skis in SBC skier. But it can't be like ask brad and have fart jokes and stuff.

really good gear reviews assessing how a ski does on all features and snow conditions.

Good movie reviews that are really in depth with the movie. Pointing out great and bad thing in each skier's segment(ex, high five. Crighton:good urban rails, but only one shot of a jump(quaterpipe) and it's short Gagnier: great skiing but a lot of talkign in the segment) It could take some time, but it would be worth it and would make buying movies much easier.

Good park reviews with lots and lots of pictures, so people know exactly what to expect whn they go to that mountain.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

it should be more like a skate/snowboard mag and less like a skiing mag

they should let riders take pictures and send them in and if they are good enough they should be in the magazine! that would be truly sick for amateur photographers to get their stuff out there!

Newschoolers...who have you hated on today?

IM pretty sure the mag already has an intended audience, and content plan that differs from the original "freeskier" and wither you like it or not, with Harvey at the helm it'll be sick, i have no doubt in my mind, and look forward to the new mag, even if it isn;t geared towards me.

As long as let Harvey dictate the Mag I got no worries!! Some interaction would be cool like written contests, photo contests and letters to the editor type stuff!!

Skiing isn't a matter of life and death. It's much more important than that!'

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just gonna ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later"

ever wonder why they give away free subscriptions?

Greater Reader Base = More people looking at ads = more people will pay and want thier ad in the mag = money for freeskier = happy freeskier readers

I like freeskier. the only problem with it was that it was just a little too macho-man sounding for me (if that makes any sense). I like mags that can embrase the dorkdom of skiing.

that pisses me the fuck off, it made me write a letter to ski magazine saying how fucking annoying it is that they have wine, and other yuppie ads. freeskier is doing it now too

maybe behind the scenes shit form comps about judging, whats really going on...

i think he should make sure the magazine is true and is able to talk about shit like unfair judging at comps etc.

no ones as good as me, they just got better marketing schemes

without the ads from big companies, we wouldnt have the mag in the first place, it's easy to not read an ad if u dont want. you just DON'T read it

Take me to your special place

Close your eyes, show me your face.....I'm gonna piss on it

i mean harveys the man for sure and everything...but you also have to give the guy a break...a lot of this stuff is intense...imagine harvey reading this...like its good that were lookign forward to it...but say it isnt as great as we thought (which i doubt) but we still need to be wicked supportive and stuff...and just give ideas and such without bitching about it...whatever happens im just glad taht a guy like harvey is giving it a try

with kami helping out it will be sick... that guy is amazing plus look at newschoolers someone knows what they are doing.

they should do more colums and stuff like that. so you get ppls opinions aswell as news. i would like to see an issue with a colum for one footed slides and one against. i personally am against, but it just makes the reading more interesting.
