Hardest questions to ask a religious person

Ummmmm pastors are able to have marriages, I believe your thinking about Catholic preists that cannot marry.

I'm sorry, seeing as how most people have no clue about most religions, most of the people on here wouldnt have noticed that, sorry for ruining it haha.

if that's your angle, then where did the matter that developed into planets and lead to the big bang come from?

Here is one we talked about in school: can god create a rock so heavy that he cannot lift it? If he can create it, it shows that he is not all powerful because he cannot lift that which is created. If he can lift it, it shows that he is not omnipotent because he is not powerful enough to create. This is the whole question of theodicity

matter has been proven to spontaneously appear and disappear for no known reason, quantum physics is crazy stuff.

Also, if god is omnipotent, as theodicity suggests, how is there evil? If god is omnipotent (all powerful), an there is still evil, why does he not change it, because he is benevolent. If he is benevolent, he is not powerful enough to change it. Basically, with evil in the world, how can god be both benevolent and omnipotent?

The funny thing is, I've gone to Catholic school all my life as well and think most of it is bullshit, but I couldn't turn down the moment to get every single member of NS pissed at once.

How about why you need organized religion? Why can't you just have a relationship with your divine being without having exactly the same relationship as the guy sitting next to you and the guy in the front of the room with a microphone?

Question:

Light only travels so fast, we're always being shown new stars that are millions of lightyears away, meaning that they've existed for millions of years, and the light is just now getting here. How do you explain the fact that we are just now finding stars that would've taken millions of years to get here going lightspeed, if Earth is only 6000 years old?

Question:

Why is God believed to be perfect, when even he sins? He murders millions of people for disobeying him, which is why he gave them free will, so they'd be allowed to.

Question:

Is God willing to

prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but

not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then

whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him

God?- Epicurus

Question:

Why is it that God not only performs miracles for people of Christianity, Judaism, and Catholicity, but for other religions as well? Such as the native American Lakota tribe, who actually documented dozens of people in their tribes being spontaneously healed during fertility rituals.

Question:

In the Bible, the tower of Babylon was created when humans wanted to reach the heavens. God was angry with humans for attempting to reach heaven, and struck down the tower. Not only did he strike it down, he cursed every human with a different language, creating the languages of the world. How is it then that hundreds of languages are interwoven, such as Latin, English, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, and French? How is it that God struck only the people at Babylon with different languages, but somehow the languages adapted to cover the entire Earth, and not only did people completely give up their languages, they someone adapted to an entirely new one, seemingly without any educations or any idea how to teach a language.

Question:

Jesus never disdains slavery, and multiple times throughout the bible he tells slaves to obey their masters. Why is it that thou shalt not covet is a sin, but having a slave, and owning a human and their entire life, is not a sin?

Just a few questions for you religious folk.

most of these are great questions

he gave us notecards to write em down on.

but i asked him and the main pastor a lot of these, more for next week!

thanks!

whats funny is how this is essentially a much more thought out and "appropriately" phrased version of the taco question that was the first response.

Can't remember who did it, but goddamnit, hours after the fact i still find myself laughing about god creating a taco so large he himself cannot finish it.

I've said thsi before and i'll say it again.

I hate people who hate religion, more than I hate people who believe in religion.

If you believe in nothing you're an idiot... And if you believe in science, science must have come from somewhere.

I agree, I don't believe in the Church at all... But theres a higher being somewhere. I much rather believe in creation theory than the big bang, you've gotta be nuts to believe in that shit

Who is the epic troll that created religion? What strain of weed was he/she smoking when they came up with such a wild story, and where can I get some of that weed for myself?

this is a good question. I would ask him to compare and contrast his congregation and interactions with fellow believers to the model described in the book of acts.

Please explain dinosors, were they there 6000 years ago ( which they weren't) or is it some kind of hoaxmade by athiest scientists.

Why are the greedy and rich are not being punished by gods wraith like the ones in the bible thousands of years ago.

Why did the egyptian empire still continue after the plagues that god gave them for not freeing the isrealites.

that last question is not good...

why wouldn't they exist? God didn't kill them, he just took away their slaves. The plagues were thingsl ike frogs and hail. The slaying of the first born was the worst plague, but it didn't kill all of them.

The first plague - river water turned to blood

The second plague - frogs

The third plague - gnats

The fourth plague - flies

The fifth plague - death of livestock

The sixth plague - boils

The seventh plague - hail

The eighth plague - locusts

The ninth plague - darkness

The tenth plague - death of the firstborn

Those would definetley bring down a anchient civilazation

In the sixth grade I went to a play that was about adam and eve, and in the play cain leaves the place that him and family is staying and meets a tribe of people and apparently has children with them...needless to say it was probably the most pointless play ive ever seen...

So many questions I could madly type now but really can't be bothered.

One personal favourite though is: If God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, then didn't he give birth to HIMSELF?

...

are pastor said that if that person has never heard of Christianity or was just born into that religion without choice, God would look into their hearts and if they were good they go to heaven if bad..hell...that also goes for mentally retarded people, and the people who lives in the jungle

Why does God look and act like a human?

If Christianity is not based on money, why are Churches and Cathedrals huge and expensive?

If God told me to kill my son, should I?

How come angels and virgin births havent made an appearance since the era of technology?

How come you have all the answers when it comes to religion?

Why is science being constantly rejected by the Church when the universe is supposed to be God's creation?

Too be more relatableHuman Greed, a fake christian's exploits

No

Misunderstanding

No u

trolol

I'd probably ask something along the lines of

How am I supposed to believe in Christianity when it is based off of Judaism, and the Christians persecuted the Jews more than anyone else (Crusades, inquisition, middle ages - banning them from France and other countries) Would Jesus - a Jew - actually condone this? Why should I believe in any religion that makes you pay to get to heaven? Heaven was created in order for people to literally be 'afraid' of God.

I could type forever about this, no offense to you, but the catholic church is bullshit first and foremost. I'm at work so I cannot continue discussing this matter, but i'l lbe back.

Again, I know theres a God, I despise athiests... but religion is so fucked up nowadays....

Is religion like the ultimate life insurance policy? because, like, if you believe and you good and stuff, you never die and get to party in heaven. pretty baller right?

I feel like i'm going to hell, but i've been thinking that same thought ever since I was like 6

I don't think many atheists care... most atheists that I know are set with the fact that they don't believe there is a god and that they disagree with religion. It's the religious people who get self-conscious about religion. If someone tried to make fun of me for being atheist I wouldn't really care because there wouldn't be an argument really, being atheist really is just more logical.

kudos to you for not arguing, but many atheists I know feel they have to defend the fact tehy don't believe in anything.

More logical to believe in nothing you say? hmmm well from your point of view i guess it makes sense.
