Any listeners of Hardcore Punk during the 70’s and 80’s? Im talking Sex Pistols, Ramones, Dead Kennedy’s, Minor Threat etc

I’m actually listening to a ton of 80s British music right now, not specifically hardcore punk, but punk that gave birth to New Romantics and wave such as The Smiths, Culture Club, Style Council (mod revival), and Pet Shop Boys. 80s British music is fresh as fuck

Start with Culture Club and then work your way backwards from wave to New Romantics to punk

Love me some old school hard core but definitely mostly into the ny scene, nyhc, youth crew, that kinda steeze

I listen to a lot more post-hardcore and metalcore now but the trail that brought me to where I am definitely traveled through the eastcoast hardcore scene, Equal Vision Records in particular.

Good username btw.

If you like the Pistols and Ramones, you should check out the Dead Boys first 2 albums, Johnny Thunders, and the Vibrators. Also the Professionals, It's Steve Jones and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols after the Pistols broke up. If anyone likes this kind of music, it is required that you have a copy of The Ramones 2nd album, "Leave Home".

Nothing very new, early poison the well, from autumn to ashes, this day forward, underoath, thursday, converge, etc.

The only newish thing I've been into I posted in the french music thread is a band called birds in row, pretty intense french post hardcore /metalcore.

I'm always particular about vocalists in this genre, there are a ton of bands that sound awesome until the vocals come in.

You?

I dont mean to but in but Ive followed Underoath for years, love em

Please don't feel as if you're butting in...I'm pretty sure we're trying to have a discussion on a web forum here so I'd say the more input and participation the better.

I'm only familiar with underoath's early stuff, most of the post hardcore and related stuff I know is from like '95-05 when I used to go to a tone of shows and stuff. Now I'm old and work a ton and raise kids but that won't stop me from being or listening to hardcore.
