Hard Urban in Park

So theres this tall urban in my park, I can get on i but I cant stay on it. This is it, It not me on the rail but its the newschooler.com famous Capurnicus.

I think i know what you're saying, go faster into it and you should be able to get locked on better. Brighton had some tiny ass lips onto some urban style rails and you just gotta go a little faster.
 
lean the opposite side that you tend to fall off on which is probaly forward so lean back and commit
 
Make sure you're 100% committed. If you don't fully 90 on, there's a very good chance you won't stay on as long.
 
speed has nothing to do with it, you can slide a rail by stepping on if you really want. its all about getting your feet wide and keeping your eyes on the end of the rail. if you don't watch the end your gonna slide off.

Also (though I don't know if this is applicable to you) make sure you come on straight, it helps.
 
I disagree. Speed has a lot to do with it. Try and step onto an urban rail and slide it, then try with speed. I guarantee it will be easier with speed.
 
Well yes i see what your saying, it will be easier with speed. But if he's falling off early, that has to do with something else.
 
For an urban rail, like one where you can't approach it straight on but have to hop on from a side....I find that if I am sliding off one way, I'm trying to hop on the rail from too far off to the side. If I line up really tight to the rail and ollie on really close to it, I balance better.
 
My home mountain.. I haven't done that one yet, where are you sliding off? If you look really close, it appears the last few feet are actually bent, which is why I didn't bother trying it.

I just got the down rail down last time, I'll prolly be there tonight (sunday) and most likely will be trying that if there's enough snow to hold the rail in.

Definetly get speed, unlike the downrail were you can literally stop and just step on, since its 1 barrel speed will definetly help. When I was learning shotgun rails speed was the difference between finishing the full rail, and me barely being able to just stand on the rail for more then 5 seconds.
 
commit and stare at the end of the rail untill its there. lean forward (front foot) and kinda twords the tips of your skis when you frist get on (if you slipp off backwards)

just what helped me with this urban we had at our hill... maybe it will hellp you?
 
how am I going to do that?, I dont have 4 foot high legs, Im about a 5'6'' 14 year old. And I love how some of the people in this tread cant read, ITS NOT ME IN THE PICTURE! Anyway yes I am slipping off forward, I tryed with a ton of speed my last run and I nutted mysel.,
 
yo yo! i loove that rail! but yeah, it can be tricky, because if you're not locked on 100% over the rail, you'll fall off to one of the sides. you definitely don't need a lot of speed for this rail at all, just enough to get your boots over the rail. once you're on that thing it locks in really smooth, just look at the end of the rail when you're on and keep your body all steezed and you'll nail it.
 
what? goin faster makes it easier to balance for sure, and it also makes urban rails easier cuz you get high up on the rail, if he's goin in to it too slow he might be sucking up his legs too much so that he isn't really able to get comfortable on it.
 
dude, i use my hand to get on that rail, you don't need any speed. as long as your feet are all the way over the rail, that's it. it's a down rail and it's smooth. as with any urban rail that is downwards, all you need is to get on that sucker and the rail will give you plenty of speed. if you hike like 2ft up the landing of the box before, you'll be golden
 
I jump on from the right side, even though Im left foot first I find it easier to go right foot first on urbans I dont know why.
 
i tried it yesterday, got the first ski on clean, 2nd one somehow manages to hit the rail, slid down the entire thing 2-3 inches from my nuts
 
get your hop onto it really smooth, don't land like 3/4 down the rail cause it will be harder to stay balanced on it like that. for long urbans come at the rail really tight and more or less slide on than hop with huge vertical onto it. idk how much sense that makes to you but i tried
 
Hear me out on this one. I had the same problem. It helps me if I just line my self up about a foot to the right/left of the rail and go straight off the lip. Dont try to angle yourself towards the rail. Once you go off the lip just turn 90 and it always helps me get centered from the start.
 
try to step on with ur non leading foot first, and then just look at the end of the rail
 
Yes, and when i jump onto round down rails, I let the bottoms of my skis hit the side and I roll onto the top instead of jumping onto the top and sliding off.
