ok so i got a pair of ninja 155s that i bent, everythin looks good, but the fucking spring is being a real bitch to get back in, under the pad of the brake...
anyone have any little tricks to get em in?
and would u reccomend puttin it in before of after the plate is in...thanks.

care to elaborate? every time i try and do so, one side goes in before the other, or its simply to hard to get in.

Definitely do the spring as the last step. Just take a small screwdriver and tap one side in by gently hitting at an angle against the back of where it goes in a circle. Once you get it to stick there (it might take a little fiddling, but it's super easy once you figure it out) just hit it straight on until it pops all the way back in. It's hard to give an in-depth explanation of this without physically showing how to do it, but once you get one you'll get the hang of it. A little grease on the insides of the brake arms can help too, although it probably increases the chances of having the spring pop back out.

I will tell you that I hate bending pivot brakes more tha any FKS, it will work, but I never used a vice, instead try holding the brake (one arm at a time) with some vice grips, set it on the floor, and bend that way, I usually clamp the 'grips right above the bend to get as close a straight bend as possible.

Sorry for the double post, but yes...always do the spring last, put the whole thing together as stated above and then pop it in (sounds easy, can be difficult though, at least until you've done a couple).

thanks for the advice. will give it another attempt later on. i also thought that taking apart/reassembling the binding was hard until i did the first one. much easier now. thanks! will most likley post pics with finished product.

I was referring to p18s sorry for the confusion.

but yes on the topic do you think I will damage the housing if I just mount the bindings on the ski first and then bend the breaks with a pipe? both p12/p14 and p18?

I know it's been done, but I would never try it. It's far too easy to just take the heel apart and do it the right way.

yeah the spring can be a bitch but you just have to be patient. put the binding together except for the semi-circle piece and set the spring where it wants to go. then lightly tap one side with a flathead and just alternate sides. it may take 30 mins, it may take 2 mins, it's different every time so just be patient and it will pop right in, no need to hit hard at all

meh it works but it's super sketchy to do it that way, it works fine with solly brakes but p series brakes will probably either snap off or break the housing

in addition...i need help to anyone who has FKS 155s...i just checked these bindings and i noticed that BOTH heal peices have a broken display window...the DIN spring still tightens and loosens...however the indicator does not...i backed it off as far as it can go, so now i need ur help.
i need someone to figure out how many turns it is form 6-7 7-8 8-9 9-10 and so on. as soon as i know the amount of full/half turns that it takes to go from a 6 to a 7 i can make an educated guess at what the din is sitting at.
if i dont get many hits on this i will make a thread in a day or two thanks alot. as much as i hate saying it ++karma for those who help.

I'd probably just go get them bench tested and be sure about it. You don't really want to guess with these bindings.

yea i dont want to guess but i will make due with what i got. assuming the fks is a uniform production, my solution to the problem seems ok to me. will talk to my tech thought

just get new windows from rossi. Usually they are a warranty thing for shops and cost them nothing but shipping. I know windows from marker are free, even on really old bindings. I had to get a pair for a customer last season

rough estimate just taken from my 155s:

T=turn from dead-stop.

T: DIN:

5--------------6.25

6--------------7.5

7--------------9

8--------------10

9--------------11

10-------------11.75

11-------------12.5

Pretty sketch, I'd try the window route if I were you.

if not I can take some more accurate measurements for you.

luke you wanker, theres a binding tester in the shop. no one ever uses it though. ask keith i'm sure he'll show you how to use it. and get him to order you new window pieces haha

i didnt even think that peice of shit worked anymore. and i have to get goose to show me cause keith doesnt know i bought bindings from skis and bikes and k2 skis, which we dont carry, from proctorjones...lol
