I know there's a handful of members here that have served or are serving - thanks for the sacrifices you guys have made nomatter how big or small.

If you have veteran friends/fam, reach out to them if you'd like. They may act awkward about it, but they'll appreciate that you're thinking of them.

Finally, we owe much of our skiing in the US to 10th mtn division who went from clapping fascists in the most extreme terrain in Europe to building ski areas where the skiing pasttime, arguably the embodiment of freedom, has been passed down from generation to generation.

It's kind of crazy to sit down and try to count all the many people in my life have actually served. I got my grandfather, two great fathers, the dad of some childhood friends, the guy next door, the guy living across the street, a co worker from the ski hill, a handful from church, and probably more who just don't talk about it. Also know a few currently serving. the number always surprises me. Thankful for those that volunteered or followed through when their name was called.

Do newzy's celebrate armistice day similarly? Near where I live on the 11th day on the 11th month at the they drive around and ring these huge bells in truck beds in the middle of the night in celebration of armistice. Supposedly, when the great war was over people ran through the streets, woke everyone up and partied till the sun came up that the boys were coming home. It's a tradition they've kept since, even have permission to break noise ordinances and things like that. It's neat.

He actually learned to ski in the marine corps, it required mountaineering and downhill skills! From what he’s told me it’s pretty badass, they go to Denali every year and train up there as well.

Yeah that’s may fault lol i was having a custom holster made and my glock didn’t fit into his holster. Man was a sniper, if he want to forgo gun safety that’s on him.

I bought my Wildcats from one of the tele instructors at the MWTC. He was telling me the crazy interesting stuff they do out there. When he and the other instructors weren't training, they'd take military sleds into the Bridgeport backcountry and build booters out there

They ride skis with snow-white topsheets and fishscale bases that don't require skins. The bindings look like snowboard bindings. Ski gear is fascinating when it's purpose-built for the military

Just a reminder that Warren Miller was a WWII vet in the Pacific Theater. He saved his crew on a Sub Chaser when a Typhoon hit. I know a lot of people hate WME but Warren Miller himself is a legend and a hero.

It's not news to me that the soviets are why we won WW2. My statement still stands. We had a common enemy with them, but by no means did we fight for them. If we wanted to support the commies we would've joined the war effort more than a decade before our involvement, and not held a cold war until the Soviet union collapsed nearly half a century later.
