so my brother (who is one of "those guys" who thinks he knows everything) said snowboarders have been doing hand drag 3s and 5s off knuckles and cliffs far before skiers ever did them. he said that's where the term "knuckle draggers" came from, but I always thought that came from the fact that they occasionally put their hands down when they turn. not only have I never seen a snowboarder do any sort of hand drag trick off a knuckle or something, but I looked on youtube and couldn't find a single video of a snowboarder doing one.

can anyone tell me who has actually been doing hand drags first? I really think skiers did them first, but I may be wrong
 
pretty sure the knuckle draggers did get the term from dragging their hands while carving (especially in powder)

and guessing from the fact they have been doing park/pipe longer than skiers (actual park, not aerials) they probably did drags first. think of how many handplants were done in pipe... im sure they turned those into hand drags in no time.
 
Well I'm pretty sure sometime during the 70s some hotdogger jumped off a mogul while in the backseat and his hand accidentally touched the mogul. Does that count?
 
knuckle dragger definitely comes from dragging the hand during a turn. freestyle trickery on snowboards came before trickery on skis. (excluding hot dogging tricks) so i can only imagine the "hand drag" we all love happened first on snowboards. but who really cares? it looks cooler on skis, so lets just be happy with that.
 
Handplants yes but im pretty sure the nimbus crew did them first or atleast made them popular i still have yet to see to many snowboarders do them.
 
Name Knuckle dragger def comes form the fact there hands touch the ground when they turn, now im pretty sure i have seen hand drags on snow boards and most likely they were done before they were done on skis
 
Knuckle dragger is also a derogatory term used by some to imply that snowboarders are less evolved than skiiers; ie. they drag their knuckles when they walk like many species of the order primate.

i forget what vid it is (maybe high cascade) but he did a hand drag rodeo 5 off a nole. sickest shit ever.
