so i don't really know what to do right now
i have some bacons mounted right now for sth 12's at -3 from recommended. my ideal situation would be to mount fks 155's on the bacons at recommended, so that would require drilling new holes further up. this is no problem on the left ski, it has only been drilled once. BUT on the right ski, there is a set of holes filled in for sth12's at recommended and a set of holes that the bindings are in now. ONLY THE TOES HAVE BEEN DRILLED TWICE
so when i bought the skis it was kind of a cluster fuck, one of them broke in shipment so i had the guy send me a third one. the bindings have been drilled and mounted by a shop, then taken out, then put back in, then taken out again, so i would be putting them back in holes that have already been used twice. so i really don't want them mounted back this far, it will make them a bitch and a half to ski, and i really don't want these bindings on these skis
so it seems like the easiest solution would be to drill out the already filled holes and put the bindings in those at recommended and just drill a new set for the left ski, but i just dont want those bindings, they're weak
i'm 5'11 and 170, still growing also, and i'll ski these hard so i want something with the magnitude of the fks 155's that i already have with brakes bent to 115. the three hole toe piece and the creaky plastic won't do it for me
so if i put the fks on there the resale value would skyrocket regardless of the number of holes, i have a totally average bsl so it wouldn't be a problem, but i need to know if having 2.5 sets of holes in the right ski is too many and will weaken it, and which is the best compromise if you don't think it's safe?
thanks for bearing with me on the long winded thread but it's hard to explain it in short words
help a fellow skier out, if i need to karma bribe you, fine

well, that was some terrible writing and i couldnt understand pretty much anything you said in the body of your question, but if all your asking is if you can have 2.5 sets of holes in a ski, then you are fine.

a general rule is, you can mount 3 times with no consequence. you can mount more but it will effect the structural integrity of your ski.

well i'm sure you skimmed it, if you bothered to read it carefully it is really quite simple and laid out pretty easily, i know that general rule but it depends on the ski, i could maybe mount xxl's 3 times with no consequences but bacons are thin and soft

kinda confusing. why dont you just leave they were tehre at and put the 155s on some different skis. it solves all problems

the number of holes will seriously hurt the resale value. Ask yourself are you really to big for STH 12s. Do you use a DIN above 11? If you just wanted to move the STH 12 back to the original mount point you could helicoil and that should hold.

Fuck the resale value bullshit, mount your skis as best for you right now. Don't go thinking of resale value. Sometimes a business head is not necessary.

From what i understand, you have 2 mounts on one ski and 2 mounts and a half (toe) on the other?
One at recommended and on at -6 of true? All mounts so far for STH 12s?

I advise that skis take a maximum of 3mounts as to keep the strength of a ski. I have remounted 4 or 5times in my own beate skis though. But never in a punters.

I would, if I were you, mount at least 1cm in front of recommended. So -2 from true centre. As then there a little gap between mounts. Also, make sure you get plugged and filled. Mounting so many times, could involve overlaps of holes, but you should be alright with the mounting patterns and footprints between the 2. (I marked it out on some paper and you should be fine, emphasis on the word should. I'm not certain.

get back at me if I've got it all wrong and I'll try and revaluate.

Peace

^^thanks for that, +k
i was offered brand new 09 bacons as a birthday present so i just sold these skis so i guess my dilemma is over
