Dude i didnt think it was that good until i played with my friend. He was the number 5 player in the world on Halo 1 and played under the gamertag Fiorgasim on Halo 2. Watching him play i learned about how well enginered the game really was, all kinds of manuvers that only really knowlegable players can figure out and utilize. For example in 'Hang em High' he could grenade himself the sniper rifle from two corners of the stage. In Halo 2 he and his crew were the first people to figure out how to fly using the Rocket Launcher to Energy Sword switch.
You can hate it if you want, but the Halo series strikes (in my oppinion) a perfect ballance between playability and competition.
