Halfpipe will NOT make the olympics

I really want halfpipe to make the olympics. But, sadly, it never will, no matter how hard we try to change it. Here's why:

If you think about it, America is so far ahead of every other country skill wise. America would have a good chance to sweep the medals.

To be an olympic event, there has to be more talent around the world. There must be someone else besides an american that has chance to win the gold.

If the rest of the world catches up with us in the halfpipe, we might see halfpipe be in the olympics. If not, sadly, our biggest event will always be the X-games.

yea your right, jon, andreas, candide, laurent, DC, dorey, vanular, hibbert, loic, bibby, tj, agar arent good at halfpipe skiing and never podium in superpipe comps...

nice try asshole, if you knew anything youd know that theres a thing called europe that prouces ridiculous skiers like jo and niklaus

Yeah, there's U.S, France, Sweden, maybe a couple Canadian's, but no other country really has a chance of winning. Four or three still ain't enough.

Don't get me wrong though, I really want pipe to make the olympicd, but I don't think it'll happen.

i mean, it would be sweet if it was made an event, and the industry would probably make more money , but it would also bring in a ton of kids that have no idea how to ski in the parks because they think its cool since its in the olympics. dont kill me for saying this, but i actually like things the way they are now. i just wish they would air the ski comps like the vt open on fuel or somthing b/c i'd really like to watch them.

^ dude your an idiot. That won't be the reason skiing won't make the olympics. Shoya from japan? The list goes on. Snowboard halfpipe is not to more global than skiing pipe. Also if skiing pipe goes olympic, there will be a big influx of new kids trainning in the pipe.

Go watch Snowboard halfpipe, only Americans win. Also, there are guys like Laurent Favre, Jon Olsson, Andreas Hatviet, and i'm sure a lot more. I mean, i have a feeling European riders are gonna blow up soon.

europe has a shit load of world class freeskiers, i admit that we are a bit farther behind the US in freeskiing but watch out, we're coming

well people from frace like candide thove will win it and people from werever jon olson lives and that chinese skier theres alot of peple out there man

all ive got to say about this thread is...........

............ some moder delete it

you my friend are retarded.......even if other countries didnt have the change (but they certainly do) they would still have it. look at olympic basketball. 15 years ago the US dominated! now they suck!

maybe a couple canadians?

unbelievable. un-be-lievable! you are so out of touch on this issue, it isn't funny.

there are plenty of legit contenders from canada, the usa, sweden, france, japan, nz, finland, even australia...

it would be a wide open comp. remember the global x-games pipe comp at whistler? yeah. japan took it.

the only thing you are even a little accurate about would be women's pipe, where maybe 3 or 4 countries would be competitive. but it is virtually the same scenario in female snowboarding, which is a legit olympic event...

anyways, let's hope it becomes a demo sport in 2010. all the infrastructure is already there because of snowboard halfpipe. whistler would embrace it, and the event would completely take off. lets keep our fingers crossed.

umm

america wouldnt own the podium like snowboarding

i think its better

laurent, hatveit, jon, Loic-collomb, gagnier

all the pipe comps the past couple years have had skiers from all nations throw down

Ok, first off, don't be hatin' on me, I'm just giving an opinion, stupid as it may be.

Second, I'm not tryin to be a sucka, but I realized u may actually be right. Looked at the results from X-games, and only 1 american has one in like the past four years or something like that. And americans have never come close to sweeping.

well the usa has won the past three. but dumonts wins were straight up bullshit. dc won it two years ago, tanner won it last year, and in my opinion, laurent won it by a hair this year, although tanner equally deserved it.

but it was dumont, dumont, tanner. whatever.

absolutely. x-country skiing? 3, max 4 countries who contend. downhill skiing? maybe 5. curling? like 3.

hockey is pretty much the only wide open sport.

european skiers aren't behind at all. but I'm guessing you're speaking from your point of view since you're from scotland.

blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah

bottum line: your wrong

-----------------------------------------

yeah, its just a bunch of random skiers that spin to win and shitty judges that dont know what newschool sking is.

to the retard who started this thread, go read the goddamn article in freeskier's january issue (i think) about skiing halfpipe in the olympics.

there are at least five different contries that have the talent of winning...look at snowboarding, the second year it happenned, americans were 1-2-3.

hockey...have you ever heard of germany having a goddamn chance of winning...no.

hockey is won by either canada, usa, sweden, russia or the czecs (spelling)

hockey can at any time be won by canada, usa, russia, sweden, finland, czech republic, even slovakia. thats super wide open in comparison to other winter olympic events.

your dumb, theres lots of countries who have the chance, canada sweden finland switzerland japan, just because USA sweeped gold in these olympics doesnt mean they are taking them out.

watch the world cup theres actually alot more skiers from differnt countires than you think but there all young guns but that would be a good thing pretty much if enough skiers went in FIS events im pretty sure thay might consider it

or because each sport(skiing is one sport no matter racing or halfpipe) has a specific amount of slots alloted to them for divisions racing is full and freestyle is to, skiing has the most variations in the olympics by far. Think about all the different race types(gs, downhill, slolomn)and freestyle has mougles and areals. Unfortunatly it wont happen, I wish it could but it is very unlikely unless the olympic commity adds skiing another division or one of the freestyle divisions is replaced
