So i always brag to boarder friends that halfpipe skiing is way ahead and more exciting to watch than snowboarding.

I just finished watching to snowboards prelims and shit, i was was impressed

Is skiing going to have the same level of riding??

your thoughts

In skiing the athletes go bigger and tend to spin more on average. For example some winning snowboard runs as of late have had one straight air or 540, you wouldn't get away with that in skiing.

Snoboarders don't go as big but they have many more double flip/cork variations.

Skiers just have to start throwing some different doubles. Other than Pete O. All the doubles are just double Lincoln's. Snowboarders are throwing all kinds of different doubles, and going back to back with them.

not xgames, but olympics and qualifiers yes, straight air required.

I still can't believe Danny Davis ran into a locked gate with a 4 wheeler late night and broke his back. that dude was golden bound... and right after Pearce.

On Olympic years X-Games (and all the Grand-Prix stops) go by the Olympic rules - The Grand Prixs because they're the qualifiers for the Olympics, and the X-Games cause it gives the riders another chance to work on their Olympic runs before the Olympics (because they're so close together).

I think it is very difficult to compare the two. IWith skiing you are able to help create more speed using your poles allowing you to go bigger quicker. Snowboarding, you cant really do that so you need an extra hit to help build up speed you lose from landing to low landing or something unexpected. Just my opinion, hope youll agree.

poles make skiers go bigger? ha.

I think that the snowboarders are back on top of the pipe right now, probably driven by the olympics.

nah in snowboarding it's just hard not to dump speed since you're turning with half the amount of edge as skiers.

I find that watching skiing halfpipe and slopestyle is more interesting, there's more variation to the tricks one can stomp, and jibs and jumps can get very creative.

Snowboarders are a year or 2 ahead i think there throwing super

steezy doubles like

I feel like they are pretty similar, snowboarding has a better tour and of course its in the FUCKING OLYMPICS, a fact I still can't really understand.

The big difference is switch. Skiing is orders of magnitude more difficult to go switch in the pipe. Regular people don't know this so it is lost on the general public. Plus most people know nothing about skiing and think snowboarding is super tight and skiing is lame.

In the end I am amazed by the progression in both sports. Even in video games from 3 years ago you couldn't do the shit they are doing now.

in general in the xgames like snowboarding pipe better than ski pipe and ski slope bettter that snowboard slope. watching shawn white, danny davis, Luis Vito nail a clean run is epic.

i am not sure about pipe.. but i am watching now snb slope qualification.. and it sucks really hard... noone can say that this is the same league like skiing...

i watched snowboard prelims too but i thought it was pretty boring to watch with the exception of some tricks, skiing is just more fun to watch and steezier IMO
