Halfpipe not in olympics

good, freestyle skiing (and the skiers) aren't mature enough to be in the olympics. we're all just a bunch of gapers when it comes down to it.
 
snowboarding made the cut and has been accepted as an olympic sport

skier cross will debut at the next olympics

1/2 pipe - not this time, too many idiots yelling at once for the IOC to understand what was happening. Until skiing figures out how to consistently judge their own events, and until there is enough marketing money to campaign for the Big O then it will not happen.

snowboarding just had way more $$$ before Nagano and were able to convince the powers that be that they should have their event.

heres what gets me pissed,kids like u give skiing a bad name, always saying we arent mature enought and w.e

but we arent, some are but we have professional skiers just like snowboarding, i think its bullshit that we dont get in the olimpics, its another huge comp. i think it would be dank to get in, another comp to watch, more skiing to watch, more progression. Skiing isnt on Tv alot and this would be a huge thing for NS,ski companys and Us. U know why? becasue once people that never realy have seen it before see it for the first time they will get interested and they willl want to get into this sick sport.I hate people that try to say we shouldnt get into the olimpics cayse i think thats bullshit

I wouldn't completely give up hope.

Snowboarding gained acceptance as an Olympic event in November 1996, less than a year and a half before it premiered in the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games. And that was an event that didn't already have an event site in place.

The fact is, the pipe and all the infrastructure required for the event is already going to be in place for 2010, so despite it being "official", it is still very possible to get ski pipe in there, it is just a matter of politics.

There are still over 3 years between now and the Vancouver Games, hopefully that is enough time for the politicians at IOC and FIS to come around.

 
i must say that rant was awsome to the max. i agree that if skiing was in the olympics it would show people what an awsome sprt it is and they would want to try it out. plus then when old people ask why you have 2 tips on your planks, you can tell them you're training for the olympics
 
That's good news. Usually the "powers that be" are quick to change their minds and adapt to "new thinking" at those two organizations.
 
i cant wait for the 2010 olympics. My family's planning a trip out there, way in advance. itll be sick
 
too rushd trying for this time. gotta get organised and get some money and a single, clear organisation and voice for 2014.

im kinda pissed that snowboarding is in but skiing isnt but honestly the last thing i need is some gay ass 12 yr old seeing it on tv and going to the park and gaping his ass off.
 
The Olympic commitee is not necessarily against the idea of skiing halfpipe. but if you put things into perspective, the olympics have high cost, with limited funds. They need to hire people for every small detail, not to mention trying to squeeze every event into TV coverage, plus countries having to makes teams and hire coaches.

Skiing already has:

-Slalom

-Giant slalom

-Super G

-Downhill

-Combined

-Moguls

-Aerials

-and now Skier-X

All those for both Men and Women

Snowboard has:

-Boarder X

-GS Parallel

-Halfpipe
