Halfpipe help: can't get enough air

i can't tell if the halfpipe is vert or not, but if your on a bigger vert halfpipe to get out you basically just go really fast and don't absorb the wall as your riding up it, also don't take very many hits in it, like dont go up down up down up down up down up down up down instead go up down up down up down but still ski the same distance as you would before

First of all, That pipe is definitly not vert, Its is a beginer 1/2 pipe, which is o.k. for you, Its not very long either. Now you want to attack the wall more straight on, your goin like at a 40 degree angle or somthing like that. Start off by practicing going almost staight up the wall, and pop once you get to the lip, do your 180 and come back down. then go through transition, I think yr sitting back a bit too much, I only looked at video once,Then keep trying that at more and more speed. Then try some ally oops , guess its practice, practice, practice.

Then when your real good, and goin real high you'll attack it a bit less of an angle for 540's & stuff and you will find your own comfotable way to do it.

But yeah you don't suck, as long as yr having fun.

cheers

I looked at it a couple of more times, Your stance seems to be kinda o.k. Yr not sitting back too much, but the rest is pretty well like I mentioned above. The 1st hit can't see anything

second hit. yr not attacking straight enough & poped too early. yr last hit the one prior to that little spread wasn't too bad poped at right time considering you went goin up the wall anymore, But definetly attack it more straight on at higher speed. Over & out cowboy!

Watch video of the pros in comps & try and do the same without hurting yrself

According to Chris Turpin you don't want to go straight up the wall, he even draws pictures in the snow to explain:

1. You need speed, so go fast

2. Hit the wall at around a 45 degree angle, riding completely on your edges, that way you can get height and distance

3. Pop when your feet cross the lip of the pipe, if you don't pop enough you can land on the deck, if you pop too much you'll land in the tranny

4. When you're landing be sure to maintain your speed for the next wall

5. Finally, "don't spin until you have consistent amplitude!"

I told you to go staight on just for practice, You are a begginer, then I said to attack at less of an angle once your good.

ride the wall about 45 degrees angle and pop when your boots are a little bit under the lip. Ride the pipe few times so you know how much you have to pop that you dont go to flat or deck

There seems to be some discrepancy about when to pop... my understanding is that you pop when your heels get to the lip.

When the truth is, I miss you.

Yeah the truth is, that I miss you so.

And I'm tired...

I should not have let you go.

That pipe is way too small. Learning how to pump is good, but when you come back down the wall you're not supposed to bend your legs very much. or else you will loose speed. Don't be afraid to go sideways either because people tend to not get very much air when they turn strait up in mid air.

well if you pop by leaning back a little and flexing your skis so they kind of snap back a little i think you'd do it when your heels hit the lip, but if you pop by just sort of jumping off the wall sideways then you should pop a little earlier but not quite sure

you might as well learn to ride pipe correctly from the get go- instead of developing bad habits and then not being able to get rid of them.

Thats a lame answer, If you read I said more straight than what he was doin in vid. Ever heard of ski exercises & games

easy to critisise anybody

you need to go into the wall at a 45 degree angle. also your not poping much. also pump the tranie(SP?) just get as much speed as you can pipe takes alot of time to get use to.

pump off the lip and go fast, but make sure you pump hard or else youll land on the deck

wow, last time I checked people were allowed to have different opinions- what I shared is how I learned to ride pipe, and we all know that bad habits are hard to kick.
