Half ski half snowboard????

I remember ( not clearly) about 3 years ago watchin ride guide t.v. or sacred ride or one of those skiing? snowboarding shows, and they were doing a story on these skis that you put together to make a snowboard.

e.g. so you could hike wit the skis then wen you get to the top of whatever hill your climbing and clip them together to make skis. anyone ever heer about these, were they a succses , who made them?, does anyone know anything about them???

they were Burton, a custom or something. Stupid idea, i don't imagine it could have performed well at all.
 
i know a kid who has one but what the point why would you ever stick them together plus there is no way it rides as good as a normal board or skis
 
arbor makes em. split arpart for x-country and put em back together for a snowboard. they are for crazy bc shit, where u need to go out in the wilderness and trek long-ass distances that you either couldnt use a sled on, or if you couldnt bring a sled to the location. not for an every-day ride. they are especially designed for this one purpose, so you dont see them around to much.
 
actually, they're pretty fucking brillant. its so you can skin up instead of snowshoe up. cuz everyone know skinning up is at least twice as fast. burton made the first the legit one. but now lots of companies make good ones. donek, never summer, arbor and some more. and their pretty cheap too, only like $700.
