Soooo this gaper looks up to me and my friend and he cant even 360 but he decided he was gonna buy a magic suit! and he said what do you guys think, will i get made fun of and we said Nooooo dude your good enough and then we told him to get xl and hes only 5' 8" and he did.....

so was this a dick move? hahaha i thought it was funny.

Anyone else got any funny gaper stories?

I dont see how 5'8" with xl is a problem. If its the same as saga sizing, then he should be looking steezy. "XXXXXL - Making your 180's look like grabbed 1080's"

"can't even 360 but decided to buy a magic suit"
So what, are there trick pre-requisites now for ski suits?
Maybe you can post a list of what trick needs to be done for every suit on the market, thanks...

Just my opinion that if your going to be investing so much money into skiing you should probably have skiied for a while. Not being able to do a 360 shows he has skiied for less than 2 years!

to be honest, you might have HELPED him. It's proven fact that when you wear sick outerwear you ski better - mostly because you feel you have to or your gonna be laughed off the hill. When I first started freestyle skiing I wore grey pants and an olive green jacket that actually fit me (haha), then I got black pants and a white jacket and my skiing got a bit better, the I got bright blue pants and a bright red jacket, all that fit fairly baggy and I started to actually throw down. Now I'm rocking bright yellow pants, a dark purple jacket, throw some Jiberish in there every now and then and I'm super stoked to see how much I progress this year. Remember, with this sport it's mostly mental, so if you dress the part you might start acting the part, haha.

who the fuck cares let the kid ski and instead of being a dick why dont you help him out make him better. what does being good or bad at skiing have anything to do with what you can an can not dress in.

You actually said it extremely well. Happened with me also! maybs i did help him, in that fact Im happy! cause i did feel kind of bad about it....

Uuummm, I'm pretty sure I had been skiing for more than 2 years before I learned how to throw a 360. Maybe he's just new to park. We should welcome people into our sport, not hate them off the hill.

Your the biggest douche on NS ever. You've just proven that you have absolutely no idea about what freeskiing is about! Thanks for bringing the high school/OC drama bullying into freeskiing, your officially a knob! Your statement sounds like a scene taken from some random high school movie, with you being the mean bitchy cheerleader, telling the nerd to buy a cheerleaders uniform! Good thing about this though is that the nerd always ends up being better than the cheerleader, so i hope your friend grows to outski you moron!
No it wasn't a dick move, your just a dick!

today in the park at keystone, I hear some kid say to his friend, "hey dude, guess what?....... NOTHIN"
and I died a little inside. This thread just brought it all back.

^ stop making assumptions. This kid has told multiple people he has won over 2000 dollars and that he is paid do go and ski when everything is bullshit. I have never called him out in front of a group of people only in private so as not to embarrass him, but this was my way of saying make your own decisions about what you want

There are some pretty weird points in this thread. I think it was dick move and would not have done it to some one i liked.
However, I did spend past season working with someone who was very stupid and anoying who was always asking "how to be steezy" so when these conversations came upeveryone just told him what he expected to hear and backed it up with bull shit points. By the end of winter he was skiing in a puke green 3xl tall tee but with normal fitting beige pants and he was wearing a bad lutenant with his oakley a frames over the top and holding small poles cos he genuinely belived they would make him better. if only we had taught him to afterbang when he knuckled all his jumps...
So what i'm sayin is, your friend will look funny and people will laugh at him, if he was a good friend you should not have done it to him, but if he is anoying and not that good a friend i'll morally let you off.

well your intentions werent good at all. you were a dick in that regard. but the dude got something he liked.

dude ive been skiing since i was 2 but i learned to 360 last year and im 15 now. i also didnt start skiing park til last year but still... ha

it does sound kind of funny but what ever if the dude likes the suit and wants to have fun out there then let him hav fun with a dope suit

well said

but dude if you would have told me when I first started skiing: '' your not good enough to be wearing a suit like that'' I would have been fucking discouraged. so luckily for you, the kid bought your story thinking you were being all chill with him, but think of it, its quite mean to think like that. why not encourage people to join the sport instead of making fun of them?

that just shows that you got new suits as you kept skiing which means that you were just getting better and getting more experianced the suits didnt make you ski any better.

He didn't say the suits made him better though, he just said that skiing is all about mentallity and the suits almost forced you to attempt harder tricks because you don't want to be laughed at.

I don't understand why someone who can't 360 should not be allowed to wear a magic suit. It's sick outerwear and anyone who wants to should be able to wear it. Think of it this way, he is supporting the industry by buying from Solomon. I know it doesn't really make a difference but seriously everybody sucked at one point so why not have some cool clothes while you at it to make yourself feel a little better.By the way if you men to boost his confidence by telling him he was good(which I don't think you did) then it's not a dick move in my opinion.

it is a dick move but i do know people who are similar to your friend and if he brags about doing shit he cant so he can look cool... then thats lamesauce. personally i dont think its the worst thing you could do... at all. If he was going to get one anyways then I think that you just made hime be a bit more steezy so idk interpret it how you want

your an idiot, i skied for 9 years before i did a 3, it doesnt matter. and if he wants to buy it, who gives a shit

youre the gaper, youre the one who has no idea what skiings all about.

it takes a real asshole to make fun of someone whos trying to get into

freestyle skiing

that comment above about you acting like a highschool cheerleader was pinpoint accurate

I think it was a dick move, but then again I don't ask people what to buy for outerwear so I can look cool...
I also don't think that your ability on the hill should qualify you to wear a certain brand or size of clothing. Do you. Have fun. Enough said.

I couldn't 7 before this year and I got a g suit it really helped me learn trick when you have a g or magic suit your kinda of forced to throw down when your with other people. one of the reasons I learned so many tricks my first year of freestyle.

wow this is what skiing has become i think this is the end we are officially worse than snowboarders today i am embarrassed to be a skier thanks

how would you feel if you we're super stoked to start free riding and you were looking into a sick suit that will make you look steezy and give you uber confidence, then some asshole kids gave you half-ass encouragement and gave you bad advice on what size to get something that you know nothing about
think about it
mull it the fuck over in your head and you tell us if you think it's a dick move or not

I've been skiing since I was 2 (18 now) Got over 35 days last season. I can ski the steeps and stuff pretty well, and been doing backcountry the last two years.
but.......I did my first 360 last season and its shitty and on a small jump. Also my first rail.
So you might see me in the park at stevens or squaw and yes.....I suck. But if you suck at park does not mean that you suck at skiing. And you can wear whatever the fuck you want. Some people buy really nice cars and don't drive them that much, just because they like it. So don't be a hater, don't laugh at gapers in the park because you never know they may be able to ski better then you. We all started as beginners so be cool to them, give them some advice, support them, everywhere on the mountain.

if he ends up not liking it he will be able to sell it on here for probably pretty close to what he got it for. But not the same as outerwear, but once I got my first pair of twins i felt so much more comfortable and welcome in the park and i progressed a lot very quickly. I think outerwear will have the same affect as skis and who knows maybe he will be better than you at the end of the season like stated above.
