2 years later and Jacob is still an Oakley pro, Dalbello team, now on Armada pro team, on Monster's team, MSP seggys. He is having a shitty contest year, but still on lots of dope filming trips according to his blog. Yeah he whines sometimes but he is still one of the best jumpers in the world.

Where's Brogan? Skiing parks at US reports and appearing in web edits and maybe tiny bit in level 1 and maintaining NS fame?
 
id much rather be jacob than be jon brogan. jacob definitely makes way more moneythan brogan plus his trick bag is also way bigger. not to mention he has a really hot girlfriend and doesnt act like a wigger all the time.

oh yeah...just my opinion, no hate.

but for being a slopestyle skier, his rail game is disappointing. i mean seriously I could have done his rail line at Xgames. thats pretty sad. he slays at bigair, but he complains about judging at slope contests, yet doesnt understand that there is more to them than just jumping.
 
Look at Bobby Brown's rail game? It's not jizz worthy is it? But still he won xgames slope, when I know for a motherfucking FACT Wester is a better, more experienced skiier. I think slope style should start to include more innovative features like tree jibs and shit, and a lot more choice. Now that I think about it, Slopestyle is kind of fucked. If I was ever competing at that level, I know I'd be a big air skiier..it requires a lot more skill IMO.
 
By what measure could you say the Jacob is a better skier than Bobby Brown? Bobby Brown is arguably the best and most consistent jumper in the world right now...
Any debates of style aside, of course. Talking about pure athletic ability and ability to learn/perfect tricks.

That's the thing, it's arguable. I personally think Wester is a better jumper, and I prefer his style. Bobby Brown did a double misty 14, good for him. I still think a Hexo flip is the shit.

We'll just agree to disagree, they're both amazing skiiers.

Ummmmm are you serious?? More experienced... Yes. Better.... No. Wester was one of the first ones to start doing dubs which is sick, but imo he hasn't progressed that much since then. And I can only ever rememeber him doing low mute with his dub 12 and japan with his kang. Bobby has progressed crazy this year, one of the sickest nose mutes with his dub 12, dub 12 blunt, sick kangs, sw right misty 9 etc etc. Kid is absolutely destroying this year and imo one of the best jumpers (at dubs) in the world atm. He results prove it this year to. And at X the only rail which was average was his top but sw 6 on was dope and misty 7 tap was super sick. No hate on Wester hes defiantly one of the icons of the sport and has helped get skiing to where it is, I just haven't been impressed by his skiing for a while now.
And can you please elaborate on why big air requires more skill?? Big air = jumpSlope = Multiple jumps + jibs/rails
I can understand comparing slope with something like big mountain and saying big mountain requires a lot more skill... But big air?? Don't get where your coming from.
 
When I say big air I mean a 140 foot monstrosity like at JOSS. Jumps like those require testicles that are the size of grape fruits. Also throwing a double off of those require even larger testicles, because you're going upside down..FUCKING TWICE. Sure it's cool doing a double misty 12 off of a 65 foot jump..but multiply it by 2 and add 10 feet then you're talking about something that requires a LOT more skill.
 
Brogan tries too hard?! Dude don't even play that shit. Kid has landings like Wallisch, smooth as butter and looks natural. Tom Warnick - HE tries too hard.
 
I do agree with you, his landings are amazing. And like I said, I'm the first one to agree he's an amazing skier.

BUT

having said that, YOU THINK HE LOOKS NATURAL ???? please re watch that clip. And by that I mean watch his rideaways and his general behavior... If thats natural for you then the world is fucked.

Kids like that playing the "I'm so G look at my hooooodie, I do the finger at the cam caus I'm so hyphyyyy" and stuff, I just want to punch them in the face no matter how good they're at skiing.

I'm sorry but that's not the direction skiing should go.

But again, thats my view on it. If you like kids pretending they're selling drug on skis, good for you.

I learned the Brogan ride-away because I wanted to.I then told my friends, "This is how this pro skier named Jon Brogan rides away from his landings."Then I did it.They laughed.
Hate on me all you want, but in my opinion the Brogan ride away IS silly. Afterbang? In moderation, awesome. (Peep Martini's switch 7 in his KOS entry from earlier this season, about 0:17, it's also in the superpark seg of EDIAS...that's what I'm talking about.) Brogan afterbang? Too much. At least, I think so.

You need to realize natural=looking effortless. In Warnick's videos, you can tell it's not natural and actually looks like the most forced style I've ever seen.

Brogan, however, makes everything smooth, from lip to landing and of course the rideaway. With Warnick it seems like his body will always naturally land a certain way and he will throw his arms or whatever he has to around to give it that "hyphy" look. That doesn't happen in the above-posted video, Brogan's landings are right where he need them to be.

Don't base "looking natural" off of what it should look like in your own mind, base it off of what really IS natural out in the field of our sport. Make the comparisons.
 
Bradshaw is famous for his clothing statement and gets minimal shots in movies. Brogan is famous for his afterbang and gets minimal shots in movies. Yeah they're similar, but it's not a good thing.
 
I just think it's/was a bit cheap of Jacob to put down someone so specifically. It's not as if afterbang is a one man show- it just happens that Brogan is one of the best exponents of it. I don't see why there's any need to get bothered by it (unless he really was jealous that he can't do it!).
