Back in the day my old civic died right in the middle of the collector lanes on the 401 in Toronto (one of the main highways). Luckily I had CAA (AAA for the yanks) and it didn't take long to get towed out. Still sucked a lot though.
I broke down in Mexico once. It was summer time and hot as fuck out. I didn't have any tools but was able to take it to a repair shop there. They worked on it for about 2 hours and finally all they could say in english was "big problem." They accepted a handfull of quarters as payment. I was still able to drive it but couldn't go faster than 30mph. I made it home but it took a while to cover 250 miles of baren desert going 30mph.
I was parking with mf gf (ex) on a heli pad and the battery died. we had to run to a gas station, call a cab, go to her house, get her car and go boost mine. this was all in a mad rush because the helipad was used for emergency rescues.
