Hackintosh (OS X on a Surface Pro 3)

Anyone NSers ever done this? I am looking into getting a surface right now and making a touch screen Mac. Seems like a really cool idea, wondering if anyone has experience with this

Sigh....

You can't just hackintosh any and every windows device. Read up over onhttp://tonymacx86.com and DO NOT post this same thread there, read and search around. I'm 90% sure it cannot be done.

A quick google search shows it CAN be done, but it's incredibly stupid. It's basically run as a virtual OS and isn't really installed to the device, and cannot take advantage of any of the GPU acceleration, which means nearly all apps run very slow

You know you can't just install OS X on a touch screen device to create a touch screen mac? OS X isn't optimized for touch .....

why would you go through all that hassle to install osx, which will likely be very buggy, when you can install another unix-like os? I guarantee you will have an easier time installing ubuntu than osx.

the surface pro 3 is already pretty solid with windows 8.1, what do you need OSX on it for?

if you're buying it just for OSX, buy a macbook

I know any and every windows device can't become a hackintosh, and I know the surface is a fairly difficult one to make run well as a hackintosh. From what I've read (which has detered me from trying this), a Surface running OS X requires a bunch of drivers to make the keyboard cover, bluetooth, and touchscreen work. Also wifi doesnt work without a dongle. I have a MBP, and have wanted something that can run OS X and is touch screen for a while. Just thought I'd ask NS's opinion and see if anyone has experience with something similiar.

Every "Hackintosh" is run on a virtual machine.

That being said, like everyone else said just get a Macbook if you want OS X and if not get the Surface Pro. My roommate has the Surface Pro and it is actually really sweet.

If you really want something Mac-like then dual boot the Surface with Ubuntu or Fedora or whatever tickles your fancy. Then get a Mac like desktop environment. I know there are some out there I just can't remember their names off the top of my head.

1. YES - You can install OSX natively on a Surface (Pro) 1/2/3

-However Surface Pro 3 hardware is not fully supported yet. But you can install it VMware pretty easily.

-Check out www.osx86project.org

---There are many PC's you can natively install OSX on without any modification to the software, with full hardware/software support.

3. You get full hardware features when installing natively, that means full use of GPU.

4. Hackintosh does not mean it's run in a virtual environment. Hackintosh is an install OS X on anything that is not an official apple computer or officially supported virtual enviroment (ex. Apple allows you to install OS X in VMware but only if VMware is running on an apple computer. But there is a workaround for this so that you can run in it on a pc.) Hackintosh can mean install on directly on hardware or installed in a virtual environment.
