Hacked the school computers grade system

junior year i was failng chem pretty good and school was comming to an end. one of my chums was in the same boat and so whenever the teacher left the room( wich was quite often) one of us would play look out and the other would change our grades on the computer. i got mine bumped up 3 letter grades in one class and he never found out. the rest of the class never told becasue we would ask who else wanted theirs done too and most people rasied their hands.
 
learning is more important than grades..

but f that if i could bump my grades up a bit i would in a heartbeat. if you don't change them too much i doubt anyone would notice. how many people are in your class?
 
Yes, i understand where you all are coming from with the risks of it, but sometimes the benefits can outweigh the risks. I'm not doing terrible i have a 3.25 gpa, but i'd like to achieve a 3.5 or better. I've decided im going to risk it if i dont achieve the 28 i need on my ACT, next year is my senior year, and it's important if i can alter something before my final and last year.

It is almost impossible to get caught, the only physical way is if someone saw ME personally doing it from the computer i am on, otherwise, I would be fine...
 
find someone that you really want to screw over, and make their grades all A+'s they'll get caught no problem
 
sounds sweet, and it seems like you have a very good chance of not getting caught, but i definatly wouldnt tell anyone in the school..
 
All its gonna take is you to fuck up by moving the mouse and they'll freak out. your fucking with your life right now. Its possible, if you can do it from like a library nder a fake name then you can get away free. stay smart.
 
Yes, thats the beauty of it. I can do it from ANY computer in the school, plus i found some girl's agenda with her name and password inside it, so i have used it before... also several computers located in different areas of the school have a "generic" name so i don't have to log in...
 
Word. Thats what I would do. Or you could just change a bunch of kids grades including yours and you probably would not get caught.
 
I can almost guarantee you (if you're district tech guys have half a brain) that any connections with the VNC program (the thing that you use to access a different computer) will be logged. That means that they will know when you remotely accessed the computer and from which computer you did it. So if you were to change your grades, the first thing they'd do when it was noticed would be to check that log. Cross reference that with video surveillance or people who were in that room and you're fucked. Trust me on this one, I'm the "hacker guy" of my class. Now, there are ways to get around those problems, so like I said earlier, talk to your hacker friend before you do anything.
 
A kid at my school used a little USB file thing that recorded keystrokes. he stole the password and changed his grades and another kid. He got caught and now he's not allowed in the tech lab, library, or on any computer in the school. Kinda risky, but if there is someway to erase the hard copy, and maybe make a copy of your new one. Then do It! tell us how it goes.
 
Cliff Notes: I hate black people (just kidding)

I remember at my school, there was a retarded lunch table of black kids who made these idiotic 'tribal drum circles' only instead of actually using drums or tribal rythms they just slapped their hands or books or drum sticks on the lunch table. It was so fcking annoying. But, they complained to the school when the lunch ladies made them quit it, because it was 'their heritage', so they were whenceforth permitted to slam the tables all day long while we were trying to eat and hold a conversation. Yeah, because banging out the hook to 'Cop Killa' on a lunch table is something you see going on in Africa ALL THE TIME.

Anyway, my friends and I had the entire school network owned top to bottom, and it was seen as 'completely impenetrable' by the sysadmin. They didnt allow you to bring in laptops for that reason, but didn't think twice when I brought in my old 1989 Macintosh SE/30 for a 'science project'. Well, the mac had NetBSD and all my evil tricks on board, and a 10BaseT network card. Within 15 seconds I had the plaintext passwords to every major network service, and set up a cron job to dump packets to my machine back home. The mac sat in the closet of the physics room for a month mapping the entire school district, and at the end of the month, I harvested all the data.

That friday, EVERY kid from the table (about 30) magically appeared on the suspension list for causing a 'violent disturbance.' Because they were loud, stupid, and an ethnic minority, nobody questioned the mark on their record, and they were all expelled for violating a suspension. I graduated in 2003 with a 4.0, perfect attendance record (despite my 90 days of actual absense), and all AP classes (that I never attended). I was never caught. For the senior prank, we submitted an amber alert on the school's behalf for the valedictorian of the senior class[bitch] on the day of graduation. The cops 'found' her about 3 hours before the commencement ceremony, and took her in to file the report. She never crossed the podium.

props for hacking it and gtting away, but suspending those kids...? was it really necassary?
 
a kid at my school hacked the network and set the school's background as a gay porn picture right before this big presentation in our auditorium. he was suspended for like a week, but it was pretty funny when our prinicpal logged on.
 
If your going to do it you better change a lot of people's grades.

Before you do it think about how badly you could get fucked for this...it can completly screw you over for your life outside of highschool
 
Claim. At least on what you did with the network.

And if you did do that stuff, you're just an asshole. Who cares if shes a bitch? She earned her right to walk. And those kids from the drum circle at least deserved a chance at graduating.
 
Kid who used to code for me did something similar. It was trivial stuff to him so he didn't understand what he had done wrong.

They came down on him with hellfire though. He was not aloud to use a computer with the internet for a full year.

However the company that made the software he cracked paid his families legal fees, which where hefty, and gave him some deal for when he is able to use a comp again.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but the point I was gonna make is, the teachers have physical records of your grades, all teachers do. They will know if you change something unfortunately. It's not worth getting booted from school and having to pay gnarly fines.
 
there are a couple ways you could go with this situation.

1. just sit back and do nothing and realize "i'm pretty sweet but have superior morals and I accept victory already."

2. change your grades slightly and see if anything happens. kind of a happy medium with the minimal amount of risk. you might feel a little guilty for cheating for about 5 seconds, then you would get over it.

3. change your grades significantly. this would just be foolish and would discredit anything else you accomplished with the hacking because you would most likely get caught.

4. mess with other peoples' grades. make some better, some worse; it would be pretty funny. then if nobody seems to notice go back and change yours (refer to #2).
 
you should think about respecting other people before you go around changing random grades...... remember that this wont effect just you. and if you do get caught......we arnt talking detention, suspension, or expulsion.....we are talking legal charges......just something to think about
 
i jsut had an idea that could put you on good terms with the school. show them what you or your friend did to bring it to their attention so they could find a way to avoid this from happening to them in the future. they could appreciate it or punish you guys for doing it.
 
fuck with her, i used to all the time using command prompt, sending messages to other computers in the system. i did allmostget suspended but it was awsome. i sent " IM WATCHING YOU!" to a room across campus. sucks tho cuz it says what computer in the system the message was sent from..... as i walked out like 5 administrators ran in.
 
I dont think its a good idea to be posting this on web forums hahaha the monitors of your schools intnet sensor will find it and make note people are hacking into systems and they will pay attention to the grades,

but i think you can get away with it as long as you use a computer in the school i dont think you could get caught as long as you arnt loged on under your name, because the IP's will all be the same as long as it's in the school. talk to your hacker buddy and see if he can get somthing to block information from the computer you are using. then make sure you repost because i would like to know how it goes down.

whats the worst that happens they change the grades back?
 
No, that's the part I believed. I meant claim on the getting kids kicked out of school and the amber alert. I'd love to see some proof of that.
 
dude totally do it, otherwize youll be a pussy, and you wont get in that much trouble. just change alot of peoples grades so they wont know, or just delete everything as a senior prank.
 
ha, no one from my school will search online for any posts about it, plus im the only one from my school that even knows about NS, and i never log onto it from school.
