Hacked the school computers grade system

As you pretty much know, teachers keep a grade system on the computer, and usually a hard copy incase anyone fools with the grades. The school system uses the teachers grades and calculates GPAS an keeps entire records of each grade you get in a class on a site known as " LEECA".

Earlier this year, sometime in the beginning of May, one kid i know is very good with computers. He found a program on every computer, similar to Synchronized Eyes, that allows you to monitor what is going on on a certain computer. Only this program has a case sensitive password, and you need the computer's username(which is the name it is hooked up to in our schools system). Each username is on the background of the computers desktop, except on the teacher's computers.

Don't ask me how, but he took the schools files and transfered them to a storage device, took it home and somehow figured out the password. He then figured out each teacher has the username of their first initial-lastname-1.

I thought it was pretty sweet, and not only can you monitor what people are doing, you can move their mouse around, and edit their text, open programs, pretty much anything you can do with the computer you're sitting at, you can do to theres.

But then i logged onto my bio teachers computer, she was looking up some notes on frogs, nothing too exciting. But then i had an idea!

I logged onto my guidance counselors computer, one that keeps track of the system i mention earlier( LEECA) I followed her for almost a week, watching her log onto leeca, enter grades, missed school days, tardies, everything. I even saw my name in the school's list. It seems so simple to edit my grades, and I have all next year to think of a system on how i can test it out... but it's very risky, and maybe not worth it. But until you see how simple the system is--- for example

9th Grade

Art 1 B-

Chemistry B

Etc

So what to do...

Cliff Notes- friend hacked schools grade system. Can change grades with minimum risk of getting caught, from another computer in the school.

 
Before i reply, the "cliff notes" part is the best thing ive seen on NS since quote reply.

As for you grades, i think changing it will be obvious and will get noticed and changed back. It might be fun to fuck around with some kids you don't like though, because im sure they have hard copies of everything like you said and could correct it. But think if someone was being a bitch you could make their next grade report quite dismal.
 
If there is a hard copy, you won't get away with it and you'll get in a shit load of trouble. Not worth the risk.
 
Well i was referring more to the hard copy individual teachers keep. And i thought it would be interesting to change random people's grades, as well as my own, maybe up to like 15 people or so.... But VERY minimal changes, over like several months time. You know, a B- to a B from 9th grade english, then a C to a C+ from 10th grade...so on.

Plus i log onto the computers using the generic username, so i can't get traced back to my name...
 
Do it to you, and like 15 other kids so you can't get caught. It'd look a little suspicious if your grades all of a sudden shot up. I say go for it because it'll make for a great story later on.
 
i say just do extra credit, and use the hacking stuff to screw with people, like when they are on make them go to porno or something
 
Well first off, don't do anything without running it by your hacker friend first. The last thing you want to do is get this kid is trouble by messing around with something.

I was going to do a computer prank at my school, since some of my friends and I had hacked the local administrator password, which was the same on every computer. We had a lot of fun with it, because you could just run the command prompt as an administrator and have the authority to do any command. So we mostly shut peoples computers down and sent them pop up messages. Our grand plan was to shut down every computer in the district(15-20+ schools), since they were all on one network, but our plan got way too elaborate due to our paranoia of getting caught. But just messing around with friends was a lot of fun.

As for what you should do, its really up to you. And just because you're not logged in by name doesn't mean they can't figure out who did it. They can trace back the IP and figure out which computer the changes came from or they can check security cameras and figure out who was using the program. And I guarantee that as soon as they notice that grades have been altered, computer privileges at your school will go down the tube, and that password you're using to access this stuff with is going to be changed immediately.

If I was in your position, I'd just use it to mess with people until I was a senior. Then I'd use it to do something major for a senior prank. But just remember, it's easier than you think to get caught, and once you do something noticeable, you can kiss using the program goodbye.

Definitely do it, those programs are hard to trace and if alot of peoples grades were changed it would be difficult to know who did it.
 
it all depends on the teacher. some are oblivious to what they enter or they're constantly getting grades wrong, and some keep a perfect track of what you've been doing. play it wisely.
 
that would be epic, there might be a line of authorizations that take palce to change a grade once its in there, but if theres not god speed and if you get cought apply to MIT and all those good schools cause you might have a good chance especcially if this is legit and difficult to do
 
if they keep a hard copy it won't work anyway. The teacher will remember what grade he/she gave you. and besides, even if you do cahnge the grades and they have no idea who did it, you're still fucked. UNless you live in the Ozarks they WILL notice a grade difference, and when they notice you're the one whos grades have gone up, they'll know it was you. use it for funny pranks and don't get kicked out of high school.
 
Do it dude. And change a few other kids grades also, so if she notices or checks she wont know which one to get in trouble. Den u just deny dat shit and pass school
 
go for it but change tons of peoples shit like even people who arent in the same grade or classes as you make it a really diverse group of people like help people you hate also by bringing up their grades
 
we'll, if your willing to risk the fact that you might get expelled and possibly charged, then do it.

but be very smart about it.

i'd rather just fuck around with other kids shit.

all my grades are As and high Bs eccept chen in which i am failing (below 65). so it has caused me a lot of trouble between phone calls home, getting bitched at by mom/teacher, etc. i would change my fricken life if i could do that (less ski time taken away)
 
dont change grades, but thats sweet because a teacher can never fuck you over for assignments and stuff because you know all your grades, so if they enter something wrong you'll be the first to know! and to call them out! 
 
Yes, i understand the penalties for getting caught, but the chance that i would get caught is VERY minimal, they may notice a change(unlikely) but i wont get caught
 
its a tough question because changing your grades will serioulsy change your future. it could make the difference between stanford and a state school. your grades seem decent, but you culd give yourself a serious edge by moving your grades up to b+'s and a-'s. if you get caught though it will fuck up your future, and mess up your life big time. if your school is big there is no way that they are able to keep track of all of your grades and its a safe bet that they wont catch you. one safe guard is to change a bunch of kids grades so they cant pin it to you.

there is also the honor question. are you somone who works by the book or are you willing to act in your self interest at the cost of your academic honor. thats a personal question, no one can answer it for you. as said above you only live once so get what you want out of life and dont look back
 
you'll get caught. or pay some kid to do it for you so he takes all the blame... you'll have to do some serious payment though like buy him a hooker or something haha
 
Even riskier:

Some kid at my old school went into the office administrator's filing cabnet when she wasnt looking and snatched his grades. He then changed them and put them back.

this went unnoticed for like 2 weeks but then they found out and he got caught. Its not just suspension if you get caught. He was expelled from the school district and there were police at the school and his house and shit. They over-react so much when it comes to this!
