Gymnastics, wtf?

Ok can anybody explain to me how the judging works for olympic gymnastics? I'm watching the vault right now and Alicia Sacramone went first, and landed her jumps with a hop step on both of them. Then the chinese person went, and she landed on her knees on the second jump and she ended up ahead of Alicia. This is bullshit

That is bullshit. Sorry but I don't know how the scoring works. I bet if you keep watching, you'll probably understand it though.

I must be right because this guy is on the panel right now saying its a ripoff. He doesnt sound like he's from america so he's not biased. He's almost crying he feels so bad for her. She finished in 4th, bs.

probably works something like diving which i watched the other day.

score is out of 20

10 for your difficulty of your routine.... this score is just what you attempted to do....

10 for your style, form, how good it looked...

while i didnt watch this it happened in the diving i was watching where the chinese girl did a pretty good dive but the crowd went nuts and she got a higher score than what they thought she would get because the crowd helped sway their voting.

for like whatever they do their routine or vault or whatever they are a given a difficulty score just based on how hard what they r doing is then there is also a score givin to how well they execute there routine/vault and those t2o scores r added. im pretty sure thats how it goes

I noticed the same thing about diving. I know a lot about diving and all its technicallities and I was able to point out definite flaws in the Chinese dives but they still ended up with 9.5's (score is out of 10) and 9.0's across the board. Some of the other dives by other countries in my opinion where very well executed even some better than the chinese but they'd get a 9.5 only if their butt fuckin lucky they'd get mostly 8.5's

it has like something to do with a start value...each gymnists gets a score up to 10 that shows the difficulty of her routine. She gets this score no matter wat unless she forgets something in the routine such as on the balance beam say she doesnt do a frontflip and another backflip without stopping thats like .1 off her start svalue. Then the second score she gets is her excecution score which is how well sje excecuted her routine including landing and shit. That is outta 10. So say a girl has a 5.67 start score which is fairly low but she takes a hop step which is like say.5 deduction. So overall her excecution was 8.42 with deductions. Another girl goes and has a 8.54 start score but falls on her knees thats still like .9 off so she gets a 8.13 with deductions if you add up the scores the girl who hop stepped gets a 14.09 and the girl who falls to her knees gets a 16.69 so she wins there it is.

Hope that clears things up a bit but still i think the judging is a little wack this year for the americans...seems like the chinese gets amazing scores for the same or worse routines that the americans do

Bela Karolyi, his wife is one of the current coaches of the team, and they are the owners of the Karolyi ranch which is where the womens gymnastics team is trained and stuff. He coached some of the earlier teams

this is the excact reason why i dont want halfpipe skiing in the olympics, the judging will b e all fucked up, skiings too balluh to get ruined like that, just look at snowboarding

i know that guys was a little creppy, i bet the other guy was like what the fuck???? it was freaking weird.
