A former gym teacher has been charged for allegedly having sex numerous times with a male student.

Megan Mahoney, 24, was facing 30 counts of statutory rape after being arrested on Monday for incidents which took place over three months between Halloween last year and January 9, 2014.

Authorities said that Mahoney, a teacher at Moore Catholic High on Staten Island, had sex with the 16-year-old boy multiple times - including at the school.

She was arrested on Monday on four counts of 'criminal sexual act' meaning mutual oral sex, according to the New York Post.

Mahoney had engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with the boy at least twice a week.

The 24-year-old, who also coached the girls' basketball team, resigned from the school in January after she was spotted with the boy by his ex-girlfriend at a local pizzeria.

The NYPD investigation found some encounters had happened at the school.

Mahoney could serve up to four years in jail for each felony charge. She was released on bail.

And I know everyone is not gonna believe this, but I honestly would NOT tell anyone about what I had going on if I were a male student fucking my hot teacher...I would at least keep it to myself for a couple months. That is way too fucking awesome to screw up.

i feel like thats literally every kids mindset when his knobs getting gobbled by the teacher. then they go off like idiots and tell their friends and ruins the fun for everyone.

but for real, im sure this kid isnt traumatized if it was over 10 times they fucked. im pretty sure when you fuck that much, you are fully aware of what you're doing.

I think this happens because the teacher has some sort of fetish. In this case maybe she couldn't get the dude she wanted when she was 16 or she is obsessed with some fantasy of dating the popular kid (if he was idk?) something along those lines

i think a ton of people have a teacher/student fetish, if you look at porn (which you all do) theres a shit ton of it. Idk, i feel like she shouldnt get fucked for this. Fired for sure, but most 16 year old males in America are pretty ready for sex. Should she really go to prison for what was probably totally consensual sex?

Idk, i feel like the law needs more leniency for males and females. Or at least flexibility. There is a difference between banging your 16 year old student and molesting a 9 year old, but the punishment is the same. Both are wrong, but one is clearly much more harmful and should be treated that way. Realistically, how much is this going to traumatize this kid?

most 16 year old males are physically ready for sex. Mentally - not usually. A lot of head games go into sex. I can explain that if ya don't know what I mean.

Also, there is a punishment because it is or can be a power thing. When one party has power over the other, who is to say it is consensual? Both parties may agree, but there is a bigger picture.

i think the idea that people arent ready for sex at 16 is pretty stupid. Almost everyone I know lost their virginities before they were 17, and while some of them probably werent ready for it mentally, they seem to be long term trauma free. Power struggles and the mind games assoiated with sex are a part of it at any age, and many 16 year olds, male and female, choose to deal with them at that age. The bigger picture shows hell probably be fine, and her punishment should reflect that. She should still be punished, but not as a child molester, as a stupid woman who crossed a line with a 16 year old student. Which to me isn't child molestation.

definitely not molestation by any means. they both gave consent, and they even went out on dates with each other. thats the part that really stood out for me. if you're banging a student, isn't spending time outside of the classroom with them really fucking stupid?

The jail part could be contested, but she should at least lose her job. Just like there's no place for religion in schools, there is no place for teacher-student sexual relationships, regardless of consent or age. It's inappropriate and distracting. School is for learning, teachers should know better, teachers should set the a better example, blah blah blah. Yeah, the kid is probably fine, but that doesn't mean that what happened is okay, ya know?

yeah no she should get fired for sure. What she did was not OK, I just dont think 25 to life is the answer. But I think the only reason people even half consider that is because its a male student, should be the same for both.
 
If this was a 16 year old girl and male teacher people would probably be outraged. Never understood thebdouble standard on these cases.

I have seen( maybe selective perciption) way more female cases recently as well. wonder if it has to do with the public perception, male teachers knowing the consequences, but due to the thoughts that all guys want it female teachers don't see it the same way

That is an interesting way to look at it. We have no official stats of which has been happening more, but what you said about men may make sense. We're (men) used to walking around all the time looking but not pursuing. Maybe this female is not used to self control with males and always pursues what she wants....
 
this sorta happened at my school until the gym teacher left last year. The teacher chose a person during their freshman year to fuck, and by senior year she would fuck them at their graduation party. The last person she fucked before she left teaching was actually one of my friends.

My brother in law started teaching high school English in his mid-20s after graduating from Ithaca. He was even the valedictorian at the same high school. The dude is a genuine, nice guy. No reason to not trust him

I am relating this to a scenario that occurred at the high school I went to. We had a chemistry teacher who always tried to act like one of the popular kids. She was always trying to fit in and was obviously favoring the more stereotypical popular kids. She would talk about getting drunk on the weekends and always wanted the gossip from the high school parties. That is weird as it is. And of course she fucked one of the students.. maybe a 2nd, but one I know for sure. So, perhaps in the teacher in OP's article was just trying to be one of the cool kids. Maybe she was trying to be the alpha-female and trying to one up a chick that was into that dude. She just thought she was one of them. People might be praising the kid, but the teacher is nutzo for doing it.
