GUYS we need to buy this

Why on earth would you make it one big park? Its in fucking b.c., backcountry out the wazoo. make parks in lower elevations and leave the upper elevations for sick bcness.

yea id dontate, but im not shure that its possible there are just over 83,000 members at 50 each is 4.15 mill, which is enough to purchase the hill, but we also have to remember that not every member will donate, and we also have to operate the hill, its plaseable but not probable

and what about heating, electrical, maintnance, staff. etc. it might take a little bit to regane that money back with just profits.

^ you quoted my post, but must not have read the bottom

all that extra, $299,000 something, goes towards utilities.. read it again.

yeah but not all 80,000 members are active. But still, even like $500 isnt too bad. and we could all work there. And on our nametags wed have our NS name. That would be epic if newschoolers bought a fuckin mountain. yeah, that would make the news

take in account there will be kids that will be able to and will pay more than the 50 dollars id be down id throw down more than 50 plus im from idaho theres so many kids that ski that are so rich that would throwdown that dont even know anything about NS but would help out alot

moral of the story....we need to spread the word outside of NS

we could get sponsors for the hill, and plus a mountain makes money. I think it would be very possible, especially if we get a few big contributors

oh yeah, when they say "powder" on that website, what they really mean is shitty heavy snow, but they get quite a bit most years.

get some funraisers to

and some photo shoots

they raise alot of money

plus make rewards for the more money donated

fore example:

$50=share holder

$100=season pass for life

$500=special privliges

shit like that

i cant think of any good ideas because its 1 in the morning but you get the idea

Maybe it would be better to start a little smaller...I read resorts in japan are selling for a half million

since no one wants to start this resort going i will

i have fifty bucks in my paypal

everyone start contributing and when we have enough i'll buy it

done

i am in, if there are any people actually serious about this, then lets start a cult and get organized and step up the plate, find out all the things we neeed to do. Brian who organized loard of the park use to be the park manager there so i am sure he has some insider info. and they are selling ti for sucha a hihg price beacsue thye expect poepel to develop the land...if we developed the land we would have to make the illest skier/snowbaorder town around, fuck all this fmaily shit, make it just mad....it would be soo hard, but i think if we had dedicated enough peeps it would be sick.

we need bhill for that! sick idea although i live in germany..

yeah orage would join our mountain with the masters. hehe...

think bout how much it would cost just to run each yr, power, staff, insurance the list goes on. also you would have to make some expansions and tend to old lifts in order to make it a profitable business that actually stands a chance against the bigger resorts in canada. i highly doubt that ns could support this

Please don't forget the costs of running it: Electricity for a ski resort can cost upwards of 1000 dollars a day. Not to mention heating, taxes, insurance, general maitenance, snowmaking, employee wages, etc. You would need to keep making a big profit after you bought it to keep it running, and I don't see that happening.

Not to mention theres no way to collectively organize this, and no way anyone smart is going to contribute a significant amount of money toward something like this. I hate to be a pessimist and ruin your dreams but it's not going to happen.

I feel a lot dumber after reading all of that. if you could collect $500 from constant returning members, why on earth would you buy a run-down ski hill?

we can get like snowboard.com and other compaines we defitaly can do this the money part is not that hard but we need a corpuration to run it

yes exactly that would work, the more support the better. we could make a deicated freestyle mountain for boarders and skiers. that would be so sick. it would be like jibbing mecca

if this were seriously to happen, we'd need a group with realestate expertise, entrepreneureal skills, a marketing team, people who really know people i nthe industry, corporate sponsorship and an air-tight business plan.

then, this company could buy this resort with a 10% down payment on land that is only $4mil. bear in mind there is a chunk of people out there whose houses cost more than that.

after we buy the land, worry about selling property like lodges and apartments before worrying about skiing, as heaps of people buy off the plan with a slick marketing scheme. then think about infrastructure, and only then can we get to the skiing.

in all honesty, i'd be willing to invest $1000 if this plan was reasonable, and thats just me as a broke 18 yearold. once we start marketing condos & shit, people would lay down $100,000s at a time. sure this plan involves alot of corporate whoring, but in the end we get to own a goddamn mountain, and i think thats worth the eternal damnation in hell we'll all face for being such dirty sluts.

oh & to all you people on the east coast, stop bitching - i live in australia & would happily spend 6 months a year over there running a shop or something.

or we dont actually have that many people like matt said, and we wont have that many more in a month, and a lot of people dont go on here a lot, and a lot of people wont want to contrubute. therefore props on the idea, not hating but its not guna work

donations dont work for that kinda shit. have a fund raiser, sell NS bracelets or w.e for like 5$ each, encourage members to buy lots, and donations and gratuities are also welcome, so if a more influencial(financially, not of the site) member wants to pay like $250 for one, its all good. i still doubt it.

I will give you $50 to help buy it, only if I get free lift tickets, and you name it NS Mountain, and only Newschoolers members are allowed.
