Guy Who cut OFF his Arm!!!

This guy was climbing in utah or colorado or something and his arm got stuck under a 1,000 pond boulder he was stuck for 6 days and couldnt move and was about to die so he cutt off his arm with a pocket knife.

Thats fucking crazy.

I dont know if i could do that.

 
There was someone on a show about 5 years ago or so. This man crashed his car off the side of a highway and into the woods, and his arm was wedged between something, and he too cut it off with a pocket knife. Actually it might have been his leg I'm not sure. Not the first time its been done. Crazy.

 
When your choices are either die on a mountain or cut yoiur arm off, I think it's an easy decision. He had to rappel down like 100ft afterwards with one arm - pretty hardcore.

yeah, i read about that too. He then hiked 6 or something miles to the enarest A&E dept. bleeding ehavily all the time. you gotta HAND it to him... hahahahahah. ehm......TAXI!

thats crazy but i think that if i were in that situation i would cut off my arm because its the only way to survive

ya first he snapped the bones in his arm by wretching himself somehow, because the blade was too dull to cut through the bone.

Did he say that in a n interview (about having to snap the bones)? I would have thought a 1000lb boulder would snap them pretty easily if it fell on your arm.

 
but his elbow was still intact so he prob had to separate the joints and shit. there was a farmer who was a tornado and a tree fell on his legs. he cut them off with a pen knife that was in his pocket.

i guess when your faced with the choices no arm or death the descission is a lot easier plus after 6 days the boulder probably cut off the circulation and he had no feeling in it.

Either way i have to give it up to that dude

i'm sure he still had some feeling in it, cause the circulation would be cut off from where the boulder was sitting on it. same with the snapping of the arm. he wouldn't have been able to cut it off where the bone was broken cause the boulder would have been on top of it. he cut it off just below the elbow

Same thing happened with a fisher a few years ago but w/ his leg instead...yeah they said he didnt' have lots of feeling left in his arm...which is a plus

it was the most amazing story like ever.

i saw a lilttle interview with him on tv last night, that guy had some mad motivation.

that's nuts. it really is. he cut it off, and he gave up after he found out he couldn't cut the bone.

but then a day later he had to do it, so he twisted his arm until it fucking broke, the bone. that's absolutely insane.

the second day when he thought about cutting it off he put the knife on his arm and it wouldn't even puncture his skin, or cut his arm hair, but i guess it magically got sharper, lol, no, he got more motivation like 2 days later.

That's pretty core. I would hope if I ever cut off my arm off it would be to save my life, and not because I was so chiefed that it sounded resonable at the time. I am easily manipulated after some green influence.

I heard that some people went back in hopes of retreiving his arm to reattach but the boulder it was under was like 1000 lbs so they couldn't get it. It probably was crushed too bad anyway.

 
Yeh the pain must have been unbareable. Try to concentrate when your cutting off your own arm.

I read his story in the paper! So damn insane! I couldn't do that. I would be like...i'm dead! How the hell can you break your arm, then cut it off with a pocket knife. Now that guy has major balls!

CORRECTION I believe he was traped for 3 days and the boulder was 600 POUNDS. Not that it matters but thats fuckin crazy...

yea, also it wasnt bleeding profusely, he had three tourniquetes on his stub and his stub was inside his camelback bladder

 
and the even crazier thing is that when the people went back to retrieve the rest of the arm(which they did), they found that aaron had rigged some kind of pulley system and hooked it to the boulder to try to lift the boulder off his arm
