kk so yeah... i live in vancouver and i went down to Snowcovers...hoping to get a good deal on boot punching...this is a typical high end store selling things for retail price and all... so i walk in and ask how much it'll cost me and the guy is like ummm yeah around 200$-300$ and im like wtf in my head...so i leave and go to comor...superb store...awesome deals...usually things are marked down low when they got sales on.. i know a guy there and he's like i'll do it for 30$ and give you a free boot heat mold for free...and i was like sweet...so yeah DONT EVER GO TO SNOWCOVERS THEY SUCK BIG HAIRY BALLS
 
i thoguht you meant something else by the title. but i can get boot puncings for free, who in the right mind would charge even over $30. even thats indifferent. like wtf?
 
^^^ haha trust me i asked the guy a few times to make sure he said 200-300$ cause i didnt beleive him the first time and he was dead serious... ^nope its ski related thats why its in the ski gabber forum
 
um, why didn't you just go to comor first? really though. i've never even been to that other one.
 
^ i dont know why i went to snowcovers...must've been high or something... my friend told me it was good and the techy at comor doesnt get in till thursday so i went to check out that other place... but luckily another semi-techy was at comor so it turned out all good

well i dont know about kicking him in the nuts cause he was a cool guy who could ski but i might consider blowing up that store cause its gay
 
You either spoke to an idiot who wasn't a bootfitter or didn't explain yourself clearly. Snowcovers' store in Whistler is very well respected and have good staff. One of the best place to go for boots for sure and a lot better than Comor.
 
^^ i was pretty clear on what i told him...told him which parts i wanted to punch and he seemed quite knowledgable...he was just giving me bullshit on how he would have to replace rivets which would have to be taken out then replaced and he'd have to unscrew all the buckles and take them off :O....ohh no you have to take off the buckles thats going to cost you 200$...well the price was extremely expensive for fucking heating up and boot and widening it so i booked it out of there and went to my fav. shop....comor...that place is G

I was going to go to snowcovers and buy some skis, but i had changed my mind because he was telling me some funky prices for them
 
if you bought your boots at snowcovers they would have done any work needed for free. i ordered mine there, and have gone back countless times for touch up fitting. also you can usually talk them down when they do quote you something ridiculous. as far as i'm concerned paul is the best bootfitter, ever. to each his own i guess.
 
I think you might have gotten confused with what they said. Who was the person you talked to?

Snowcovers knows boots and has helped us design some of our Salomon boots in the past. Thrust me they know there stuff. Comor is good to though. Did you talk to Jesse or Tom?
 
you should go talk to that asshole and tell him that he does it for 10 times more than it should cost
 
That's pretty odd, comor definitely is usually cheaper, but the techs are not nearly as experienced as snow covers. I'm guessing the guy misheard you or was high, or both.
 
I am sorry to hear about your bad experience.. but if you notice the growing trend in your thread you might realize you were possibly mistaken...

As many others I have dealt with Snowcovers on boot issues numerous times. They are extremely knowledgable and experienced. They are known well outside of this continent as well for their abilities to deliver a top notch boot fitting.

I have not yet met anyone who had to have simple, or even not so simple fittings done on boots purchased at the store that had to pay for that service.
 
I was thinking this was some kid bitching abouta guy hitting on him.

Comor is alright, i get most of my shit done there. But you must have said something wrong, or talked to someone not in skiing who thought you meant buying boots.

I know a few who get all their work done there and never have any problems, snowcovers is a really experienced staff and gives killer deals
 
kk to the guy who asked who i talked to it was some white dude with like long black greasy curly hair who had some sort of European accent who worked at the vancouver snowcovers.. yes i realized they are extremely knowledgable after he examined my feet and told me all this technical jibberish which i was quite pleased with...but i asked him several times that I wanted a boot punch and he told me 200$-300$ like a said before....this guy was in skiing and knew quite a bit... he told me he would have to replace things on the boot and i would need 2-3 punches to get all the pressure points fixed out because he told me when they punch one spot they have to correct another and so on... but the bottom line was he told me it was 200$-300$ and i am not mistaken... i will bet my skis on this that the guy said that
 
I know I've bitched about this before, so sorry if you've read it, but yeah. I have had nothing but good experiences with 3rd ave. snowcovers and nothing but bad experience with 4th ave. Comor / Pacific Boarder. Yeah, I'll buy retail there, but every time I go in there it's like I don't matter at all because I don't snowboard. Everyone on the floor is a snowboarder and they seem to have little to no idea what they're talking about. I've had 2 mounts done there and one they fucked up, the other they kept my skis for 3 weeks, told me 3 times they'd mount them "tomorrow", before giving them back. Took them over to snowcovers, they were mounted 2 days later. I honestly can't deal with PB for tech stuff anymore. That said, they are cheaper than Snowcovers, and several people I know can't STAND Snowcovers because their staff can be kind of arrogant and customer service is not always their forte. That said, I busted my boot earlier this year and thought I was going to have to get a whole new cuff, took it to snowcovers, he fixed it in 3 minutes. I figured I'd have to leave it there at least overnight, so I didn't have any money on me... the guy just goes, "didn't I mount your skis that time? Yeah, just pay me whenever." Instead of having to wait to get a new piece of boot, I'm skiing the next day. That impressed me. But they did fuck over Josh pretty bad... so I don't know, I guess I'm torn. Reputation for Snowcovers from friends = bad, personal experiences for me = good.

Anyway, he probably misunderstood what you wanted. I hope the job Comor did works out for you. With my luck my boot would shatter when I did up the buckle.
 
Face the fucking facts: There's no such thing as a good, reasonably priced, honest ski shop in Vancouver.

Next time, go shop in Whistler.
 
Ha... I have neither the time nor the money to do so. Though it would save me having to transport skis if I left them there and picked them up the next time... hmmm. Good idea Simon!

How about vancouver ski and board? Not reasonably priced, I guess... I have insufficient experience with the place. Also, no one's mentioned NSSB.
 
I've gone to NSSB for I don't know how long. Probably 10-12 years. All great people there. You won't neccessarily find the best sale prices there but I've never had a problem with the work they do. If you are on the North Shore I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else.
 
north shore is awesome too. from word of mouth they are not as good at tech stuff as snowcovers or vancouver ski services, but still very knowledgeable. depends who you talk to about skis... i explained to a dude that worked there that triplets were called that because you get 3 skis...

they carry orage and some other good brands of outerwear, and if you talk to the right people you can usually swing some kind of deal.

anyways here is my list of vancouver ski stores.

snowcovers- best for bootfitting, hands down. 2nd at tech ski work/waxing.

vancouver ski services- best for tech work/waxing, hands down. nobody can compare. ever. and for buying tuning gear.

destination ski- 2nd best at bootfitting. also have some deals on outerwear, gloves, etc if you go at the right time.

north shore ski and board- pretty ok in everything. convenient for me in location so i like it.
