Gus Kenworthy not on Armada team

i heard a rumor from the atomic camp that they picked up gus because they needed someone from the american freeski team for sochi

in terms of potential olympians, atomic is stacked. Andreas, Elias, Jossi, Byron, Cosco, Riddle, and now Gus? That's what... 5 different countries?

TBH he just went the more technical route compared to some skiers nowadays who focus mostly on style, not to say he's gotten worse because clearly he's improved a lot since 2008, to his credit. he just doesn't stand out to me in 2012 like he did 4 years ago.

love this:

Why do people think Gus kenworthy doesn't fit in on the armada team he killed it with them, he most likely switched to atomic because of the more backed sponsorship and atomic IMO is a very good sponsor aswell, plus they probably handed him a big bag of money.

If Gus isn't Armada, Torin surely isn't. Nothing wrong with that though, I wouldn't want to be on Armada given their structure. Torin's got 3+ years at a minimum until he reaches the 'pro team' level for Armada. That kid has more potential than Armada can fulfill. Torin needs one more year on Armada in which he wrecks shit... then he needs to get paid elsewhere.

3+ years til hes pro team level? i feel like medaling in xgames and being on the us olympic freeskiing might qualify him as being a pro...or am i misunderstanding your statement?

Armada has a weird pro/am team thing. Its not based on skill, but its based on time on the team. I think henrik is still on am.

no... pretty sure its time on the team, b-dog is on the pro team and he sure as hell wins a lot less comps than henrik
