Gus Kenworthy finally lives up to his potential

This guy is possibly the best skier in the world right now and until today he failed in almost every x games since 2011. I mean he competed in what? 12 X games events and only manages to snag a bronze? Winning silver on the inaugural year for slopestyle at the olympics will finally take him out of the shadows and shove him right on the main stage where he belongs.

Seems like a pretty nice guy too. I mean for christ's sake if he's not busy pulling olympic medals in sochi he's occupied by saving stray puppies.

Keep killing it Gus

My theory is that at the X Games, Gus is one of the only guys who competes in all 3 disciplines(Big Air, Slope, Pipe) and yet he always manages to get to the finals in each of them. Still trying to compete in 3 disciplines splits his focus/attention and he cant train as hard for each event compared to the guys who only compete in just slope or just pipe. With him only competing in slope at the Olympics he was able to fully focus on it and put down a run that lived up to what we all knew he was capable of.

Not that I was anything bad on Torin, Wise, Lynam, or Blunck but if one of them has to pull out it, doesn't that mean gus would get a chance to ski pipe? That would be insane. Gus now owns these olympics.

Wasn't everyone of his runs flawless? I can't remember him falling once.

Well done US, outstanding work today

Gus has always been one of my favorite skiers and it is awesome to finally see him get on another podium in a major competition

Couldn't have been more happier for Gus. He is easily the most well rounded skier out there at the moment. Glad to see him take Silver. He finally got something worthy of his skills

or you could just kindly and respectfully be proud of your athletes without having to take a shot at everyone else?

Because a horribly lubricated stunt ditch robot could possibly be the best skier in the world....

Does anyone else think he should have got gold?

His run was absolutely flawless. His top section was technical as fuck, and I'm pretty sure he landed the cleanest triple I've ever seen. I don't get why Joss got gold, he landed one of his dubs a little forward and kind of swung his hand around. Sorta lacking in steez and yet he scored a 95.8??

So stoked for Gus! Has always been one of my favorites. It was pretty cool to watch him in the Olympics while wearing a hat I bought off of him on here years ago, even on a stage such as the Olympics, freeskiing is a small world.

gus has always lacked consistency, not skill. i think that with the full 6/7 practice days and the fact that he's not splitting his time with pipe he was able to counter his main problem. stoked to see him on the podium
