Gus is fucking sick!

really? did you just say "pussed out" to go ski powder? im gonna give you the bennefit of the doubt and go get my eyes checked cuz if your serious you really need to rethink what your saying.

im not saying you cant enjoy park more than powder skiing, but go ahead and call powder skiing for pussies again and i have a feelin the rest of ns backing me up in saying shut the fuck up.

exactly...big mountain skiing, even in powder, is by far the most difficult thing that one can do in skiing. by far the most dangerous, too. I can't believe someone would say that people like eric pollard "pussed out" because even though we're all entitled to an opinion, that particular one is WRONG IN EVERY WAY.

"Skiing is anything you do with skis on your feet" - The King, motherfucking Will Wesson

Otherwise I agree with your post (except I'd say the number of haters and fanboys of Gus are pretty equal here). Respect.

sorry but you totally contradict yourself matt. you can't say that we're all entitled to an opinion and then say that big mountain skiing is the most difficult. I'm pretty sure it depends on the person. I find skiing powder and sketchy faces much easier than trying to throw down in the park (granted i'm not skiing alaska bc...). but no doubt big mountain is ridiculously difficult, but so is park. it really depends on the person and their personal beliefs.

the future of skiing has something terrible in store.
competition skiers are still generally all the skiers that will be thrown into videos. In skiing there is no LINE that seperates competition jocks and skiers that go out and just film.
In snowboarding, you can see that competiton boarders make good money. It doesnt matter what boarders really do in big air and halfpipe competitions because if they spin to win or not, they'll get their sponser check and the check for winning the competiton or placing, whatever.
Then, you have your boarders that the most respect is shown to, which is mostly the guys who just go out and film. Well, luckily in the snowboard world you can get paid for that too, and you can do technical tricks without worrying about doing a 630 onto a downrail, or a 450 pretzel 630.

skiings wack as fuck, either you compete and flip like a fucking mad man and make money and get thrown in movies because your sponser pays for you to be in them, because you have good comp results, which in skiing means your automattically good or pleasing to watch.
I just feel bad for guys like josh bibby, frank raymond, or anyone else really like those two who are really good skiers who dont go compete and just try to do all the tricks that will get them farther in the "ski" industry, and because of that are pretty much making next to nothing. (doubleflips, spinning to win on rails, pretzeling every fucking spin on a rail)

skiing IS wack.

Agreed, pussin out for powder is one of the worst explanations i have heard for the proper evolution of the sport back into the mountains away from the man made features that are a waste of money time and creativity. you dont need a park to do tricks, you only need a mountain.

ya way to clear that up, the ns haters were out in full force on that one. it was also funny that gus was standing just over your shoulder as you were saying that. thats why your the man jon

are you serious?

everything you just said is right on point. i never thought i would actually use the karma tool. but i think you deserve it.

Word! Plus I also think as other guys out there that Gus is overrated. He is still young and foh sure the future of skiing.. but right now he is just being overrated. Dont give the kid too much pressure.

we've argued this way too many times to get anywhere, but I AM talking about alaska and doing tricks in the backcountry. a perfect park jump is definitely easier to throw a trick off of than a bc booter, there is no arguing against that. rails you may have me on, a 4-kink rail is defs harder than a normal PNW backcountry run, but you won't DIE on a rail as you would actually die while being buried in an avalanche. soooo I'm talking harder as in risk factor and what someone has to lose. It also depends on how you ski the park, a trick like a switch 10 is by and large harder than a 360...just like skiing an AK face is obviously harder than cruisin some glades. see what I'm saying?

Like I said, you can have an opinion, but I'm saying that if you believe that a 60 foot jump is harder than a 60 foot cliff you better be shitting me.

Jon is the man i think that people should listen before hating on him, how can you hate on Jon fuckin Olsson?
