i dont think that means that 90% of the u.s has a gun. i think it just means that the people who do have guns own like 5 each. every person i know who owns a gun, has more than 1.
 
i guess because im not a chick and don't have to worry about getting my purse stolen and having so shoot the robber or something, i duno. why the hell do u need a gun?

you deffinatly dont want to get a smg, theres really no point. Its all about getting a good rifle. My next one is going to be a rem 700 308 with a 12x scope. Now theres a rifle the is all buisness

my opinion on guns is as follows:

they're an addiction

many people buy one to start out, like a .22, then proceed to love it and buy more

guns are really fun, as are most things that go BOOM and destroy shit

Any kid with the internet or an ounce of mechanical prowess can build a bomb in his basement that will kill 200 people, so I don't really see guns as being such a big problem.

The bad guys will get them whether they are legal or not, so you might as well grant access to vetted individuals.

That said, think about this: the point of a SMG is to be tiny, and fire a large amount of bullets fast. Instead of using a big rifle round for knockdown power they shoot many small caliber pistol rounds. So, why would you get a semi-automatic SMG? Might as well own a handgun.

But, if you're looking into a small pistol-caliber rifle, I would suggest you look at the Hi-Point carbine. They cost about $100 new, come in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP and are rock-solid and reasonably accurate. For concealed carry I would say a .40 S&W or .357SiG is the way to go.

At work I carry a Sig P229 in .357 SIG, a S&W M&P in .357 SIG, and an M240. The P229 is the standard carry sidearm for us and we have had very good luck with it.
 
no silencers are illegal....his dad must be a terrorist or a spy!or made his own illegally! or it just looks like a silencer but it dosent do anything.
 
I like guns so I'll chime in. I own four so far, all for hunting which I do a fair amount of. I am looking into buying a handgun just to get one in case laws tighten up in the near future.(maybe a .45) Being a hunter I have never really needed a handgun(although you can) but self defense is always an option and just diversity in shooting skills makes me wanna practice with one. It's not really easy to hit something with a pistol so I want some practice.

Thread creator sounds like he just wants some fun with guns and watches too many movies. I'd say shotguns are the most fun and you should go with those, there are many different ammo types for shotties and many applications in hunting or just shooting for fun.(plus they make a loud boom) Also growing up hunting with rifles I can say they are pretty loud and fun too but slightly more dangerous in general. Hell if ya want compact just get a shotty with a pistol grip on it for some good fun.

For you as a starter I would advise a small (16 or 20 guage) shotgun or a clip fed semi auto .22 rifle with scope. Both are very cheap and will provide hours of enjoyment. Go screwing around with that mac 10 and ya might just blow your bollocks off trying to shove that thing in your pants.

And for those saying that guns are more prominent in the south, maybe you've never been to upstate maine.
 
i think its weird when people say they need a gun for protection...do a lot of you have situations arise where a gun is necessary?
 
do you have "a lot" of situations in your life when you need a seatbelt?? I've been driving for almost ten years and have been in two major accidents. That's not very frequent but i still use my safetybelt.

Last week the cops came knocking on my door saying they were just checking around because my neighbor called 911 as a suspicious person was trying to get into her house through doors and windows(unsuccessfully). I was warm and fuzzy cause i knew if i heard someone beating on my window I would have been safer than average joe.

Also I am not bloodthirsty, my shotty's got two rounds of rubber buckshot loaded in front of the rest of the slugs. Not crazy just prepared. I drive with gasoline stored in my truck, does that make me an arsonist?
 
you can get them in most states with a class 3 firearms license, but it puts you on basically every federal agency's watch list, whether you deserve it or not

class 3's also allow you to buy full-auto weapons and grenades and whatnot! yaaaay!
