first off, let me say I'm against guns and I think the world would be a better place without em.

but since they arent gonna be out of america any time soon, I do think it would be fun to have one. I know theyre expensive but I'm gonna be getting a lot of money in the upcoming months and I can spare it.

I've never shot a gun but my dad just got a .22 pistol (with a silencer, soooo badass) and I'm gonna shoot it this weekend. but I would probably like to get some type of SMG. I live in virginia so I can buy an uzi or mac, just not automatic.

anyways, which smg should i get? I was thinking a mac-10. they are supposed to be cheap and pretty easy to maintain, and reliable. any other suggestions? post some pics.

also, how hard is it to get it converted to full auto? I know this is illegal but I am just wondering.
 
i went and shot clay pigeons for the first time a couple months ago, shit is so fun. That was the first time I had ever shot a rifle.
 
you shoot clay pigeons with a rifle? are you sure it was a shot gun because its very difficult to get one projectile to hit that little orange disk.

but guns are good when they arent killing people. shooting at stuff and hunting is fun but war isnt really good for anything. hand guns are pretty bad because it makes it easy for violence to happen in urban areas
 
yeah i know but it doesnt make sense unless your just trying to show off you shooting skills. its not practical for hunting doves and stuff.
 
i dont know about reliability, but dont start off with one of those, start with a simple .22 rifle, my ruger is really reliable, and also would make a great starter gun, requires little maintenance, just a little cleaning every now and then

You gotta sitck it in the back of your pants and then grab onto it cause its gonna fall out if you dont cause of the loose pants. then you gotta grab your crotch to hold up the front and walk around like that. Oh and never EVER, under any circumstances put the safety on. you never know when a brother gonna come at you.
 
Man up and buy a rifle. I spent three years in the army (infantry) and I can tell you that the most fun type of (legal) weapon to fire is a rifle. I've used pistols, smgs, shotties, but nothing compares to the feel of a solid rifle.

Obviously some of the bigger (illegal) weapons are MUCH more fun, such as machine guns, mortars, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, claymores, etc...

But when it comes to legally purchasing a firearm, definitely don't pussy out and buy a smg.
 
yah dude, def dont get a fucking mac 10 for your first firearm...ive been shooting my whole life, and ive got a glock, a sig, and a ruger revolver, as well as a romanian AK, and they're VERY dangerous guns to fuck with if you don't know what you're doing

additionally, a mac 10 isn't going to run super cheap, and i dont know about your particular gun shop, but they can also be quite hard to find. any further up the SMG food chain you go (MP5, thompsons, UMPs, etc) and you get into the $1000+ range

lastly, think about ammo costs. you might not care that a mac 10 costs around 4 or 5 hundo, but the bullets you buy just to shoot random shit are gonna be expensive, .22 rounds cost like 20 bucks for a box of 500...9mm and .45 (which is what almost all SMGs shoot) cost CONSIDERABLY more per box. if youre just getting a gun to plink around with and have a good time, get a .22, especially if it's your first gun.
 
oh, and you might also consider like a 20 gauge shotgun for your first gun, theyre also really fun (shooting skeet, bird hunting, whatever) and shotgun shells are really cheap compared to rifle and pistol rounds of higher calibers

a 22 is a really good starter gun and excellent for practice. either if it's a revolver or pistol. the 22 is really small for me now, but my 38 revolver is really comfy.

my best friend just got a custom ar-10 sniper rifle with bipod, scope and laser for 1600. that rifle is schweet.

I'll explain again for you. I am against guns. but they arent going to get rid of them. I trust myself with a gun. I dont trust criminals with them. I would gladly give up my right to have a gun if everyone had to, but since thats not going to happen, why not get a gun if want one?

I'm against the meat industry, but me not eating meat wont do shit. so I eat it because its tasty.

back to the subject...I dont really want a rifle. well maybe an assault rifle but thats pricey.

I'd much rather get an smg. also I dont need a practice gun, I have my dad's .22 pistol which is perfect.
 
Walther p99 AS....mines in .40, which is a caliber that i really like. oh yeah, James Bond carries this gun.

ignorant judgmental person not every american has pistols. most americans that have guns have them for personal protection in the rare event they are attacked or for hunting. cops and some gangsters are the only peple packing pistols other than airsoft pistols young boys play with. you need to stop judging americans and thinking were gun crazy when we are not. its our right to have guns unlike most other things like driving which are priveledges.

First off, what was the point of the beginning of your thread? Deep down you like guns but you don't want anyone on newschoolers to know? Thats pretty shitty that you try to put on 2 different fronts like that.

Besides that point; shotguns are super fun to shoot. You can shoot trap, skeet, or go bird hunting. I hunt grouse and waterfoul. I own a double barrel 16 gauge. 22s are fun to target shoot with or shoot gophers.
 
no dude hes partially right we are gun-obsessed. theres a crazy amount of guns in this country, like enough for every person to have 4 or something like that.
 
I don't know your contemplating a CCW, but if you have any expectations of using a gun for self defense, 9mm is the smallest caliber that is recommended.

i don't really see the any need to own a sub machine gun unless you want to train for SWAT or something like that. usually, if you're "against guns" the only thing that would make sense is if you have one out of some kind of necessity. SMG's are super fun, true, but just that. It's purely recreational and has no use outside of a crime spree. it's no good for defense, because in no way will you have it ready and with you most of the time, and its not like its for sport. they exist for military and police purposes and that's about it.

yah a lot of gun-owning families have way more than one gun...i know that's not ALWAYS the case, but i know lots of kids whose families don't have firearms, and the families that DO have them own in excess of 20...

i mean, in the south, especially the rural south, it's slanted pretty heavily. most guys i know are hunters, but they have loads of other non-hunting guns just as collectibles or for fun. at the same time, loads of people are completely opposed to it. all i'm saying is that those 90 licensed weapons are probably only represented by 10-20 people or houses.

I get what he is trying to say, he is against guns getting out illegally to the public and help cause death. But since there is no chance on them being banned he might as well own one because he is still interested in guns. He said if guns were to be banned he would gladly give up his rights to bear arms and his gun.
 
yeup. the south is a crazy place. my friend has like 10 guns in his truck. all different kinds. you name it....he's got it. he doesn't even hunt that much.
