this is a sketchy topic. some of you might say well yeah guns are for hunting, but most people that hunt dont do it to put food on the table, but rather for recreation(which is just pointless killing) and dont even say hunters keep the deer(and other animals')population in check cuz im sure the deers did just dandy before humans even inhabited their lands. Then you could say well people have the right to bear arms cuz its in our constitution. well our constitution was written a long tme ago when things were different, i cant really see why it would be essential to own a firearm in this day and age. if the masses ever tried to overthrow the government it wouldn't work either, even if every citizen had a gun. the US government is too established, complex, and solid, plus its got the best army on the planet backing it.(unless of course we got the army on our side) but really guns are pointless unless your a soldier so fuck em.

You can use the argument 'It's an outdated section of the constitution' for any part of it, but the constitution supposed to be writen in stone for a reason. As much as this country is a police state now, cops still canot be everywhere at once - there are no police anywhere near most places, and people have the right to protect themselves. Realisticly, 99% of citizens are going to use their gun for protection and protection only - and the way i see it, if somone from that 1% starts firing away, i'd feel more safe if my neighbors took him down right away than wating for the police to be called and arive. This was put in the constatution for a reason - we may have more technology now, and a larger police force but the fact remains that people that are going to do harmful things with guns are ALWAYS going to be able to get them, and the only difference if they are outlawed will be that the rest of the people (99%) are going to be defenseless against them. Self defense is NOT somthing that changes with time, as long as there are people that want to harm you there has to be weapons to defend yourself, this is somthing our forefathers recognised when writing the constitution, so people like you couldent bend their intentions and leave the people defenseless.

And also fairly pertinent as well, being from australia where you need to sit a test, have a license and all this other shit just to buy a single round of ammunition i find it mind boggling that you can just walk into a K-mart and buy bullets in the states. why are the US so much more paranoid than other countries? in Australia and Europe etc. basically no-one has guns in the house and there is (compared to the US) basically zero violent crime.

i kinda like guns, i have a huge 303 british, and a .22. If i really wanted to i can totally blow somebodies head apart with my 303, as in pulp fiction style. Why do i have such a high calibre weapon? Not for hunting, thats for sure, its kinda hard to defend yourself with a weapon that bulky as well, the weapon itself was designed to kill and maim people. I still have this weapon for historical value. So i will, for once, go with james. My grandparents were partisans supplied by the british during WW2, this weapon signifies there struggle. But will i ever take this gun out to create a crime? Who knows...
