Ok so i have been playing guitar for about one year now, first 6 months on an old acustic, last 6 on a squire electric startocaster nock off but I ahvwe gotten allot better and i feel have out grown the crappy squire. I also have made some extra cash from working at the ski shop so i wanted to get a new guitar. I play all types of music but i mainley harder rock, metal, classic rock, and alternativ. Stuff like systme of a down, led zepplin, allman bothers, coheed and cambria, guns and roses, iron miaden, bloc party, ect......

I was looking at a mid range guitar, 400-600$, but for the right guitar i will pay a little more. I was mainley looking at ibanez and ephiphones like les puals, explorers, and sg. What would u guys recomend. Also if u have any used guitars and like in my general area, CT, feal free to contact me
 
Ibanez sabres, they are dirt cheap, fucking rip, you gotta use nothing thicker than 10s though or its really rough.

You need a good amp with it though
 
Get the Les Paul man. I'd also invite ya to check out schecter guitars. I'm currently playing a 006 deluxe which only retails for $450, but I got it for $228 shipped on e-bay, brand new in it's box. Schecter guitars have almost that Les Paul sound, and I think are more unique.
 
IS it worh saving up the extra cash for a real gibson. some of my friends say that ur just paying a shit load more for the gibson name while others say u r jsut buying a crap guitar with gibson looks with ehiphones.
 
Save up for a 2nd hand Gibson Les Paul (just make sure the necks not been cracked just behind the headstock). The reasons, 1)you get to own the real thing, sure it'll cost more than an Epiphone but it'll be a lot less than a new Gibson 2)you're not going to worry about putting a few scratches on it like you would a new one 3) If you don't like it you'll be able to sell it again for around what you paid for it 4) if you keep it for long enough and look after it it'll go up in value. None of rest of the guitars will (trust me I've 2 Ibanez's as well as a Les Paul, the Ibanez's are both woth less than I paid for them, the Les Paul quite a bit more).
 
So asides a used gibson what would u say the best guitar new at the $500 price range for jsut about all rock. Im jsut asking cuase i want to have allot of options
 
wear can i get one for 500 though, would i be better off getting i higher end ephiphone then a low end gibson. I have played my freinds real gibson sg but i was i higher end one with realy nice pick ups ect... im afriad that if i get a low end gibson ill pay more for what i can get from a high end ephiphone
