Guitar-easy to learn?

yep.. get some of them to show you basic chords, basical plucking and shit. then move to electric and learn power chords and that shit, and then it all comes from there. thats what i did. i wish i had some classical background though..

yep and don't take lessons like i did, its a waste of time, teach yourself then you might have bragging rights

for the first three years i played i used my dad's acoustic learning classical and blues, and in the last year i got an electric and rock came really easy.

I must find the perfect spoon.

wow anybody who says guitar is easy to learn, either is pure talent, or no offense but not that good, because it takes a lot of time and effort to actually know what you're dong, how to play in key or read music, let alone playing it, to become good it takes a lot of time and dedication, but its also very fun

all you have to do is learn to play dust in the wind by kansas, I swear to god this song is the key to guitar playing. learn it, play it 700 times, or until you can play it in your sleep. then just learn to play it 50 different ways, and your the next jimi hendrix, i swear to god.

in my opinion guitar isnt all that hard and this is coming from someone who has no musical background on either side of his family. ive been playing for 2 and a half years now and i learned everything on my own. im better than most of my friends who have been playing for like 7 years. it just came naturally to me. i just wish i started playing when i was like 5 years old

..had private lesson for seven years, classical guitar..it was okay, i learned pretty much. but i noticed that the better players are the ones who learn by themself:-).. -they don´t care about "rules", are more open to new things and even more creative..

yeah fuck all the theory there is about it. its much more fun to just play and try new things out on your own

i had lessons then i quit because the teeacher was a dick

if you use tabs its really easy

do you guys use tab or the actual notes? I had taken lessons with acustic but then i had to quit because of school. and now i wnat to take up electric but my mom says i have to buy the gutar. How do prices run? and where could i buy a good pretty cheep one?

sure u can learn without lessons but chances are you'll develop some bad habits and only end up being a mediocre player for the rest of your life. I had lessons for like the first 3 years and now I'm on my own but looking for a good teacher. You dont need lessons to learn but if your gonna actually play in a band you might want some. Its a lot harder than people think it is to play in a band if you wanna play good jmusic

I'm sure it's a lot like skiing, pretty easy to learn but you actually have to dedicate yourself to it to be really good.

I think there's a difference between what you addressed and what the poster is asking. But I agree with your statement.

Is it easy to learn and do ok on the guitar? I would say yes. Is it easy to be a guitar badass? Fuck no.

Guys like Michael/Christopher Amott, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Jimi, etc. may ahve learned easily, but to be as good as they are took years of dedication and ambition.

And as any real musician will tell you, they're always learning.

haha yeah, today when i clicked back on th thread, i was like well i didn't really answer what he was talking about, but yeah to whoever said its way different playing in a band, it definitely is, the one key thing is rhythm, and also playing in key whether its like major or minor, or if your playing lead what scales to use, but as for as just getting the basics its not too bad

i picked up guitar pretty fast, but i have pretty good musical background. 4 yrs piano, 3 yrs lead trumpet in school band.. guitar is just so much fun though, i used to play for 3-4 hours every day. i've been at it for maybe 2 years now and the only thing i really need to improve is my solo ability

it helps to have played another musical instrument so you have some rythm. I taught myself from books and guitar tabs.

my sister plays, i tried to teach myself before and couldn't get it so i'm trying again now, its not to bad actually.

you can learn be a self taugh faggot who learns from tabs or you can take lessons, learn about music, and become decent, and maybe even join some bands and rock hardcore.

just dont be that douchebag that learns easy shit then starts a band. Drummers do this more often, they learn a simple beat, join a band, and make the world a more terrible place.

that's chill man. I just hate it when I go play a gig (I don't often go see local bands unless I'm playing) and one of the bands has a drummer who probly learned a simple beat 4 months ago and decided to join a band. It completely destroys the band, and I guess it just bugs me, as I mentioned it before.
