it is totaly irrelevent,  they should all be paid less then a highschool teacher or a ambulance driver, or a firefighter, or a public defender, or the 18 year old kid getting shot at in Iraq or Afganistain.  Same goes for other profesional athleats. 
 
The point I was making is that most pro skiers have other lines of income other than sponsorships. No need to get in a hissy-fit over it.
 
chances are if you have been making it in PBP, MSP, etc top level films, and either have had a hand in innovating skis, and competing in high level comps, you should be making at least enough money to get by without another job. I bet the avg pro freeskier makes a salary comprable with a teacher or AAA baseball/AHL salaries
 
they don't make oodles of money, just enough to pay for living expenses-morgage, heating, gas, water, groceries, etc. but they also get all there skiing, traveling, cars, gear, clothes, food, etc. for free.
 
I am pretty sure Shaun White made like 8 mil in 2006 for snowboard/skateboard combined. Amex, Burton, Volcom, Target, they all pay well, even for an out of shape ginger.

dont talk about houses near hood costing that much because they dont i live like 40 minutes away and the closer you get the cheaper it gets, carlson just graduated (early) and still lives with his parents
 
wrong. its simple economics.

but since that wont satisfy 99% of nsers, it will give a brief example. Teachers educate around 30 - 150 students per year, while a great athlete will entertain millions. Some people view skiing as frivolous while to others great skiing is genious. Would you admit that a great skier should make at least as much money as a psychiatrist? They both help people forget their troubles.

good for candide, 600 grand is a shit load of money, he'll be set for life, even though i cant quite believe it yet.

if i remember correctly Andy isnt getting shit from K2, not even 40. kind of strange how off balance their salaries are.

no wonder jon lives in monaco, what else can he spend his money on? head and oakley probably pay for most of his accomadation.
 
its not really the sport to go into if u wanna make big bucks.. unless ur amazingly good and sell out to 15 sponsors...
 
Ok a lot of skiers don't make lots of money. Like just enough to live and buy themselves a nice downhill bike or something. But let's take for example someone who wins the xgames; you get 50 000$ for the comp, then your sponsors give you another 50 000$ easily because of the exposure that they get because of the x games. The skiers that have cash are the ones that win the big comps and the ones that are involved in the world of freeskiing's merchandising like someone said earlier.

Here are (or were) the big ballers of the ski industry for sure:

Dumont is with salomon, oakley and target though. Salomon is bigger company than Armada with means more $$$, they both share Oakley which means = $$$ and then Simon has target which means mad $$$$$$$$$
 
I don't know exactly how much these guys get paid but I can tell you that the Europeans like Candide generally make a lot more because skiing is more mainstream in Europe and, as such, can attract broad, non-ski, sponsors. Advertising for, Coca Cola is worth so much more than getting paid to ride for Oakley. The highest paid skiers are racers, not because they sell more skis for Atomic or whoever (although that is part of it) but because Bode Miller's image can help sell chevys to people who may have never seen snow but know the name of an olympic medalist.

He's not just a pro mt biker, He is pro in Biker X, Biker freeride/slopestyle, and DH, and he is top 10 in all of those.

I bet if Candide ski raced, did X country skiing, and freeride, hed be unbelievably rich
 
Gracia wheres designer clothes everywhere hes loaded he came to my town (hood river) in a 50,000 truck and designer jeans but he was cool
 
yea there was a thing on HH about him getting his own place finally, because it was documented in lifted or happy happy that he still lived with his parents as recently as 02-04
 
The ones that say they make enough to live are wrong... top pros make a lot of money! Hatveit earns more than 300000 just from nike acg...
 
candide makes 400 000 $ a year he said it in an interview in a french skiing magazine.

i think it is a lot but decent if you look at the risks, the fact that it is a short carrier, and how good he is. in another sport at that level he would earn 10 time this.
 
Well Im sure you all know Aj burton, not that famous at all. No really amazing competition results no suuuuper movie segments but he makes between 50 and 70 k a year which is really swell for him.
 
less than what your mom makes on the street corner, cause she's so damn good.

jk, i duno but its nothing compared to other sports and the risks involved.

i mean look at soccer, the biggest risk is stubbing a toe or something
