Growing population in colorado

Yes, lets get angry at the people who spend thousands of dollars to go ski in their free time and support the resorts just like you do. Fuck them. You should be the only one skiing and you should pay 1/2 as much for a pass as everyone else. I mean you could just move somewhere else where they don't have weekend warriors, oh wait...

Agreed. More money into the sport and keeping our mountains up and running so we can enjoy them. I don't find most of the difficult terrain to be very busy either, even on the weekends, mostly the beginner/intermediate runs.

Half of them get injured, or get tired and puss out by 11AM anyways. Weekend Jerrys have no stamina and they spend all day sitting in the lodge spending money, which is great.

This. Although it will be an interesting situation in Colorado in 10 years when the population increases by 1 million and will rise and rise after that. Granted, it's 1 million spread throughout the state with a very small percentage who ski.

Still, things will be crazy, I-70 is expected to be one of the worst commutes in the country:

who is pissed off at people who move to denver to ski on the weekends,¨ weekend warriors¨

I get more pissed at people who move to resort towns like Breck and suddenly think they're core af and that all the lifts were really built for them. Having said that, I have not skied on a weekend in two years and I dread to do so, now that I am back in school, this season more than ever. I might not get a pass though and force myself to use my avy/touring gear more this season.

nobody feels like they should pay for a full price ticket:

'im a local'

'ive had a season pass for 10 years'

'i bought my whole family passes'

'i only ski park'

people have no problem paying their gas bill, cell bill, and mortgage in full. but when it comes to lift tickets, hell no, wheres my discount?

They are the reason I get paid... well now that just sounds like I am a hooker...

But they come up on the weekends and spend loads of money on food and lodging. I might not like them but they do have a very big place in the economy in my town!

Magnify your problems by ten thousand and you have Seattle. Although, most climate scientists and meteorologists are predicting that 2016 will be the last year Washington sees any snow.

there are only so many tables. hospitality jobs would still be making minimum wage. All you're getting is a higher cost of living.

The weekend warrior supports the die hard, its how it works man. Instead of being pissed off about it, educate people on our sport. The more people who ski in the world the better

Tru, there is only a small % of diehard skiers compared to the people who ski maybe once every weekend.

The people supporting a ski town are the people who own real estate at a loss (probably 90% of the hotel rooms in ski towns are actually individually owned and just managed by the hotel), the people who live there at a loss, and tourists who fly in. The rest are just exploiting the infrastructure, and weekend warriors in particular are usually the cheapest most entitled people in town.

I am talking about the people from denver who bring all of their food, and stay in trailers and stuff. The only money they are bring in is maybe the cost of a ski pass. I am fine with tourists, its the ones who come from denver and bring everything.

So by your logic any "locals" who bring food/beer/supplies there to the mountains are okay but if your from out of state/front range and live in your van your dick cause your not spending your savings on a fucking $20 burger and $10 beer right?

Sounds like OP was trying to make a thread to rip on Weekend Warriors cause the I-70 resort corridor is always packed and it backfired.

Get over it. If you wanna ski somewhere without lines leave and go to the wilderness area and earn turns the hard way.

Not sure if troll or not but the PNW is far from done. I linked the opinions of 2 different climatologists below. Real interesting stuff with the approach of global cooling in 2017.

"Average temperatures will run at least 6 to 10 degrees below normal all winter. Nearly 95% of all the precipitation that falls during the winter of 2019-20 in town will arrive in the form of snow compared with a normal winter season’s less than 40 percent due to frequently mild Pacific air masses scouring out the cold."

"As global cooling officially arrives in mid-December 2017, the years going into the early 2020s will see a major ENSO of the cold phase, called La Nina,' which I have forecasted will arrive in the winter of 2021-2022, and which will be a MAJOR event in the northern hemisphere. Blasting storms in winter and spring will mean much more snow and ice storms - this will make the winter seasons longer (six months) as opposed to the usual three months"

Uh, yes... I mean what is so hard to figure out? Even if they bring their own food locals are at least contributing to the town in terms of property taxes and labor.

Your comment about spending your savings earned in a city on a burger is kind of funny too, median income in Denver is nearly twice what it is in Summit County, and for the most part "locals discounts" are pretty much nonexistent.

Are you really not getting it, or is it just admitting the reality of it that's hard?

No I understand now. And let me just say at first I thought you were being an idiot. Now I know your just a selfish entitled ass-clown.

You just think the mountain is for tourist people or "locals" cause they are the only ones who deserve it, even though its on White River National Forest and available for everyone recreate on publicly.

"Fuck all the out-of-town people who only buy a day/season pass and spend no other money. I should be able to decide who gets to ski because I'm core and living in this shit". That's what your saying. Your a selfish dick for saying that.

Mountains are there for anyone who is willing to spend the time getting to them. There's not a set amount of money to spend to be in the mountains.

If it's just a lift ticket a car ride that's all it cost.

If it's just the gas in the car cause you have all the gear, food, knowledge and willing to hike the mountain to ski it, well they are way more deserving of anyone else of skiing that mountain.

On the subject of not spending money, I'm saying the weekend warrior is smarter than you cause doesn't waste his money on going out to eat in town.

You should really look into Yellowstone Club. They have same mentality as you.

ha, you actually think shit is free. Bro, every square inch of this county costs money, either in the form of access or amenities. Nice try moving the goal posts though, "durr national forest access is for everyone" as if we weren't talking about ski resorts and shit. But even at the most basic level of visiting a national forest you're taking more than you're giving, you think Jesus put a self maintaining road in? talk about entitled....

Well to start I never said "free" on anything numb nuts but thanks for speaking for me. Nice old guy speech about "how the world isn't free".

I understand how government forest (FS, BLM, BIA, NPS) are maintained and funded as I've spent a few years working Department of interior and other recreational government agencies.

But here's the crazy thing. Guess who pays for the maintenance of it? Tax payers. Including front range weekend warriors. So yeah. National forest access is for every one who pays taxes. I don't see jobless people ski very often so I assume every skier out there is taxed to certain degree.

But your right lets get back to the topic at hand. You being butt hurt about too many people skiing at the resort right? Weekend warriors make it too crowded and they are dicks for not giving your town enough money?

I will go back to my statement of you earlier. Your a selfish entitled ass-clown. As long someone pays for pass they are using there's no requirement or set amount of money someone has to spend in a ski town or resort. Get over it.

Lets be honest here. Your just pissy cause your still in school and can't ski during the week so your stuck skiing with weekend warriors. Hey that sucks but maybe you should quit skiing if you can't handle a crowd.

You're such a hypocrite man, acting like I'm putting words in your mouth. I never said shit about who should be allowed to ski or not.

The county pays for the maintenance of county roads, with sales tax and property tax. You skip lunch, no sales tax, gotta increase property tax, gotta increase rent, burgers have to cost more, then you turn around and bitch about the price of lunch? Get over it. And fuck, if were talking about a resort how far do you think your $600 pass got them? Yea it ENTITLES you to ski any day you want, but the services you're receiving probably cost a hell of a lot more than $600.

Good call on the student stuff though, very intuitive.
