I have a chance of staying in Richmond during a weekend soon, but I guess it won't be open by then.

Is it cold enough around here for all of this rain that we are getting to produce snow up on Grouse? I don't know cause i am new to the area. What temp. does it have to be to make snow up there? It sure is raining enough anyways.

well it doesn't matter that much on snow conditions considering grouse makes a shitload of their own, just use a phone and call them to see when they open instead of hearing it on some site.

I live in Vancouver and I've been hoping all this damn rain would translate to some snow up there but I don't think it's cold enough yet. I sure wish it was though because I've got my pass and I'm all ready to go and I think I'm going to explode if I don't ski soon. Whistler opens in 3 days though!

I dunno, i was up there on the weekend for a partoller training weekend cuz I joined a junior patroller program. It was snowing, real hard, but then it rained, and washed it all away, so wait another week prob and there will be snow starting to stick.

If your driving up from their, just keep going a few more hours and head to whistler... most times you wont get that great of snow, you could try your luck with grouse...but its much better to go to whislter! Plus I dont know where pullman is.

None of the locals have snow yet, at least on there actual runs. I'm guessing we need a high pressure system to blow the clouds out and lift this warm blanket of air we have been covered by for the last several weeks then the next low pressure system will bring with it the goods

Long range forecast show it will dry up this weekend and remain dry and mostly sunny for the remainder of the month.

... for Vancouver

freezing level right now is at 3500 metres. Grouse is at 1100 metres. For the last 4 years Grouse has opened anywhere from the 27th of November to the 1st of december. But for the first week or two they only open paradise, the rope tow. Then Expo always comes next and then cut, and then lower peak.. but those runs don't ussualy open untill mid-december. This year it might take longer if these weather trends continue.

None of the local mountains are THAT great, but Id still say bring your skis. Its better to ski on a shitty mountain that to not ski! If you take up a few buddies you'll have an awesome day
