Grouse Hatefulness

In the latest round of hatred from Grouse mountain staff, four of my friends had their passes pulled last night for.... drinking a beer on the chairlift.
Y2Play, YSoGay?

man, they love to control the crowds by taking passes and banning folks who have already paid for a season. unfortunately, i picked up a Y_____ pass the other day. It was hard, but I didn't get one this past season because I hated the mountain so much and it was the worst season of my life. Seymour isn't really a viable option for me right now, nor is Whistler as an only mountain... and does anyone ski cypress? It's also not an option for me. So I'll just not purchase anything else (i.e. food) and not support them with my words... kinda hypocritical I guess, but, it's that or sacrifice my own skiing time.

although they did go overboard, you have to think. Is this one beer really worth me getting my pass pulled for. Or is this one snowball getting thrown at this nort/jong really worth it too???
There are some patrollers up there that will pull your pass for the smallest infringement, i know of one that pulled 150 last year. In 2 seasons i have yet to pull or cut a single one. All I do is ask the person to go and do it somewhere else, but if you betray this trust of letting you off with just a verbal warning then the whole system that i believe in will break down.
If you see someone patrolling with mad baggy pants and riding anthems give me a haller, I always like hearing from other NS members

it will be extra enjoyable next time we ski thrasher creek, to throw beer cans at the patrollers on the way in

Only reason I didn't get my pass pulled once was because it was a day pass.... but I was skiing down a run stopped to take a piss get back on my skis and finish the run. Then out of nowhere a safety patroler comes up to me and says did you duck any ropes, I said no, Well that run was closed for night time. So I said well I went down there before you closed it. And well the just of it is he didn't believe me and would have taken my season pass if I had one.

And shit I know tons of people that drink beer on that chair.

Haha that's typical...Not getting a pass there next season. I don't care that they're cheap, but it just isn't fun having power tripping people screaming at you for almost anything. It's just not worth it. I'm not gonna be living in Van anyways next season, but if I was I still wouldn't buy one. It was funny at first but I just don't like the vibes.
I might as well post another Grouse thing, not a pass pulling thing or any of that, but entertaining and annoying at the same time. Some bitchy lady and a dude that somehow work for the mountain planted themselves at the orange fence at the bottom and decided to yell at people going too fast. It was a decently slushy day so it wasn't fast snow, and they were shouting at us from the park and the cut sides. Nobody was even going remotely fast or even slightly out of control. And they singled out this asian snowboarder (not a tourist, he was lapping the park or something) and I saw the lady walk up to and lecture him on 2 separate runs about speed. He wasn't going fast either. Just another annoying example of mistrust towards their customers. Whatever, I'm over that place.
And don't call me a whiny bitch. All you Grouse supporters always tend to do that. I'm just expressing my opinion.

The two guys who typically support the beast that shall not be named in here actually work for grouse so you can't really expect them not to be over their heads in the kool aid.

Considering it says on the back of every ticket you buy NOT to drink while skiing, and then you go and drink on the lift presumably going up the most populated run on grouse, you are pretty much asking to get caught. You could have just waited like 2 minutes, and chilled in the quicksilver. Yeah there are some patrollers there that are nazis, but doing something that blatantly stupid is just asking for it.

common you guys read my post and don't lump all of us together, just like skiers in general you get some that you agree with and some you disagree with. G-man i have actually skied with you before and you never would have known that i was a patroller unless i told you.

Yeah but one or two good patrollers doesn't make up for all the bad ones. Sorry. 150 bans in one year by one guy? That seems a bit excessive.

thats all i get? :( the one time i write on a thread thing the only hate that comes out of it is "cool man" damn. well yo zav come shred whis during the telus!

BROWNSPY U BITCH. GROUSE IS FOR FAGS!
happy now?
doesn't it say on the ticket something about being impaired thru drugs and alc... so i can go drink a beer in the lodge, or 2 or 6 or whatever, but as sooon as i cant afford the grouse beer and i bring my own tasty beverage to quench my thirst on a hot spring day im shitfaced? im drunk and breaking the rules? seems kinda lame. cash grab.
seymour today, kid does slushcup with beer in hand, owner walks up to him, asks him to go drink it somewhere not so blatantly in view. no pass clipping, nothing. next lap the owner gets drenched from somone sprayin him from the slushcup.. again, he laughed, pass is still in one peice.
chill out grouse

i wish i could man, i was going to go up tomorrow for the masters but i took a spill on my longboard and bruised my heal. so i'm not gon be able to ski fo a while.

the reason that most mountains dont allow outside beverages is so that they are able to regulate the consumption of the guests. They will stop you if they feel that you are getting to inebriated on "grouses over priced beer".
Not trying to argue with you peter just stating the situation

yeah I am sure they would still let you become inebriated if your spending the money though. Its like any bar, technically they shouldn't serve anyone over 3 drinks. However this happens all the fucking time. If you bought that many on the mtn they would still serve you too...its more just like brining outside food into a restaurant. They can't so much control this on the mtn, but they can control liquor, because there are many laws that aid them in this section.
I do find it very hypocritical though.

lol of topic but wat does grouse got set up? anything for descent coming to van next weekend and saw that they will still be open

a retarded management system that will gladly revoke your ticket, as a patroler and member of this thread has clearly pointed out.

Going from memory they have a really, really nice 5 jump line that goes: little table, floaty step down, big stepover and 2 tables. Rails are okay, I can't remember what they have set up.If you see me say hi, ill either have a lime green misfits/grenade jacket or a black/white tall tee on.

That was my last year at grouse and a few others i know. Ive had a pass there since about 99 or 2000 cant remember. i even did the blogging thing for them and even though they did do a bunch of cool stuff for us im just tired of all the bs that comes out of the place.

They did have a wicked park this year for the majority of the season and was a fun place to ski. So no im not upset about that. Theres a few "upper people" that i think are pretty rad for the most part and some that are just straight up homos.

im just keeping it simple. bye

haha i had my day pass pulled for skiing across the ice skating pond when noone was on the ice...steezemore is legit but fuck the lifts drive me insane

No idea if this was the case, Often when there is no one on the rink it is because the temperature is too warm for it to freeze properly. With having the equivalent of antifreeze flowing through tubes just under the surface of the ice it could have been their worry that with your skis it could have cut one of the hoses. This is a huge pain to fix. If this was the case they should have explained the reason for cutting your pass.
Also if there was someone on the ice that you didn't see it could have been extremely dangerous because while going across on skis you have absolutely no control on the direction that you go.

^ or, more likely, some nazi patroler wanted to get his power trip on and reach the 200 passes clipped mark so he could climb up the pass-revocation leader board

"hoses" referred to as hard drawn copper...

so unless it was a pool of water there is no worry of a pair of skis on an ice rink.

and antifreeze is nothing like ammonia.

(I could be wrong but) I believe that it is actually a hose type substance, similar to a soft version of PBC piping. During the winter the ice-rink needs to be kept at a depth of 2-5 inches in order for the coolant running through the pipes to adequately cool the water to the temperature needed for the ice rink. So if it were the case that they were not at that temperature needed for the rink then that protective layer of ice may not have been thick enough to protect the fragile "hoses" underneath. Thus the skis could prove to be potentially damaging to the hoses.
And the reason for me stating about the antifreeze is not the fact that it is dangerous but rather the fact that it is a pain to go and fix something that is under a layer of ice.
I am not a magic 8 ball but these are just my opinions on what could have occurred. And I am by no means trying to start an argument , many ppl on here will vouch for the fact that I am a very laid back guy and easy to get along with.
Hope to see you guys up there this week :)

it was during the 48 hour event at about 2 am haha so that's why there wasn't anyone on the ice...

but yeah ill be their all week since steezemore closed
